Commenting on an LJ friend's post just now, I recalled for her a funny incident from my international travels. Maybe you "rawveri" readers will be amused

I remember a retired doctor telling me about his early days. Freshly qualified, he had to deal with a heavily pregnant woman who was giving birth earlier than expected. She was Spanish, and had very few words of English. He was trying to learn Spanish, but hadn't got very far. The birth itself happened so quickly that there was no time to call an interpreter, and he had to try and explain to her what to do. Things went fine, and by the time the interpreter arrived the baby had already arrived. Speaking to her later on, via the interpreter, the doctor expressed his hope that he had been some use to her. She was very gracious, and thanked him for trying....but "Most of what you said was gibberish. The gist seemed to be that 'My son, she is going to swim down the river and live in a little house. Pull! Pull! Pull! You are about to explode'. I just remembered what the midwife had told me, and did that, instead".
