Hey, gentle readers -- not to brag (well, not much, anyhow), but this humble little journal is currently 578th on LJ's list of Top Blogs. That's out of hundreds of thousands they somehow survey, reporting the position daily. I have NO idea how they figure it...but I'm up from around 2,000th a month ago... readers' appeal, karma, erotica, friends

Thank you, Anna -- I hope you understood my obscure reference to "Sally" -- it was the actress Sally Fields who, winning an Oscar several years ago, said "you liked me..." as she expressed her appreciation. The phrase has become a cultural icon in the US.

I'm so happy you replied to my little ego trip here. Especially because I think you lovely women are ANYTHING but "insignificant."

As far as that goes, I really have NO idea what it takes to "register" on the damned lists. I'm going to pursue it on Google -- see what others are saying about it.

And I want to drop in over on your blog to read a little deeper into your fascinating community.

Haven't yet found any explanation of how "Top Journals" works, but did just find an off-LJ thing that tries to ferret out "the best use" of LJ -- http://yayhooray.net/thread/27/best-use-of-live-journal-official/p/0

This thing is mainly cool photos found on LJ. Amusingly, on the first page is a series of shots, each combining a face found on various countries' currency (sic!) with a photo of...an actual FACE. A cute shtick.

So far, no luck -- even my faithful Wikipedia has a ton of stuff apropos of LJ, but nothing on "Top Blogs."

I suppose there is something to be said for not revealing one's basis for evidently arbitrary ratings. Among other things, to avoid precisely what you so kindly (if not innocently) proposed...

Yes! That would account for it -- the very exclusive "fashionista" effect!

Actually, someone the other day did privately compliment me on the variety of themes, concerns, notions, etc. that seem to turn up here, as well as the sexy... and, just to spice things every now and then, the gently perverse.

Sometimes all of them in a single posting.

Anyway, we here at the blog do heartily endorse the full spectrum of Piper Ltd. enthusiasms -- well, we think of them as "Les Must d'Aujourd'hui"...
