Elsewhere on the internet people are taking stock of their goals for the year at this half-way point. It seems to me a very sensible thing to do, and it gives me yet another reason to write a list (I love lists)! So here are mine
( Read more... )
I don't do lists. My thing is "try to do one new thing a year", which, hmm, did I do one this year? I try to do my new thing around my birthday. Hrm, I could count running a 5K race as my new thing this year, but I'm not sure if that counts if "I started running" was my new thing last year. Well, whatever; I don't get extra gold stars for being extra original. Maybe I can morph this year's into "train up for a 10K". Especially if you're training up, then I'll feel like I have company. :)
I have an awesome macaroon recipe if you want to try it! Here.
I don't really set specific goals for myself... I guess because I have a tendency to push myself *too* hard rather than not hard enough. I wanted to write at least one new book (which I should be starting tomorrow!) and write more polished drafts of my WIPs (done) and just generally write lots and read lots and keep doing kung fu and good stuff like that. :)
Those are good guidelines! I agree that you should do what is best for you. I've been trying to work on refining my goals to make them things that give me the satisfaction and direction I need without making me crazy. It's a work in progress!
This is a great list! Inspired by a friend of mine, I created a 30 by 30 list. My birthday's not until next May, but I've accomplished a few things on the list so far (like buying a house!), others are well underway (reading 100 books in 2009) and others are scheduled (going to a museum on Monday).
I would be so totally excited to see guidelines for writing FF! I like to do lots of different types of writing with my journalism/ mass media classes and I think that is a topic they would totally dig!
