I hate that germans (and other nationalities, too) are so stereotyped/clichee in television....

simpsons might make fun of this fact (although I'm not really sure about that ;)) but there are sooooo many shows where germans only wear leather trousers and eat pretzels and drink beer....we aren't all bavarians *lol* and even most bavarians don't look/act like that very often.

I know shows often make fun of clichees but I have seen many examples who doesn' t.

oh I forgot: if there is any enemy needed in a James Bond/Indiana Jones film it's the "german Nazi type" for sure (besides the dangerous Russians of course)

There have been many an evil Englishman in pop films as well. Never evil irish though---but they are always portrayed as happy or drunk or both.

When I was in Berlin, a few of my British classmates were talking about culture, and they were complaining that British people were always the villians in movies. Their main reference was Star Wars, being as the Death Star was run by British people! :) could've been because the studios where SW were filmed were in England! But come on, Peter Cushing is great evil! :)

Personally, I get tired of seeing European shows where Americans are always fat/and or totally obnoxious. >:/

One evil Irish exception: Bullseye in Daredevil. Yeah, crappy film, but what the hey.

I remember when we were on student exchange in the US, and the whole group was in a bus going somewhere I don't remember anymore. Some of the American people had brought video tapes to watch during the journey. There was this one South Park episode where they wanted to do gene manipulation, and one of the characters said something like: "But gene manipulation can have bad results - just look at the German people!" Awkward moment for everyone...
