writing is hard

There are no spoilers here. I went to see Civil War again yesterday and came out of the theater with an unstoppable desire to write Tony Stark fic, but that was before the unstoppable desire met my immovable inertia and apathy (which is a result of being overextended and stressed the hell out). I haven't written any fanfic all year -- until last ( Read more... )

Good luck beating back your apathy to get some words down!

I am desperately waiting for the next installment of This You Protect to be finished so I can sit down and read it over and over. Also, I so feel your pain about wanting to write a pairing that has so many stories for it that I'm just - why bother adding to the pile? It's one reason I haven't written much at all myself lately, despite being hugely into all the Tony Steve Bucky possible pairings. There just doesn't seem to be a need for whatever I would write.

Maybe if we write owlet's boss a note excusing her from work for a month so she can write faster?

One of the great things about Owlet's work is that each of her chapters could be a tiny stand-alone story. So her WIPs don't bother me, because unlike This, You Protect, there's not a single through-line getting to the climactic moment. It's more...snapshots, I guess? I love that. It sort of suits the style of the 'verse.

You put that perfectly, about adding to the pile. It's the true definition of drawerfic - write it, keep it, feel satisfied, but there's just no point in sharing it. (Or in some cases, writing it.)

However long, I'll be looking forward to it!

I'm creeeeeping up on finishing the Tony/Bruce thing I've been working on for - crap, I think it's three years? At least two.

You are the reason I've been reading the hell out of Matt Farrell/John McClane. You.

The world needs more Tony/Bruce! And also, I think it's AWESOME that you're reading Farrell/McClane, I will happily take that blame. *g* There are some excellent stories out there. Just not enough of them.

Dooooo it. Just keep adding to the end! Eventually it will get done. Guaranteed! I want to read your MCU stories. :)

That is the theory! I do sometimes wish I didn't have a job that occupies 99% of my brain and requires constant analytical thinking, because that has assimilated all my energy and creativity for adding words to the end when I get home. *g*

I don't think I've mentioned to you how happy I am that you write Steve/Sam, because there's not enough good Steve/Sam out there, full stop. And I heart them. <3

This is something I've noticed about myself: the lead up to writing is FAR worse than the writing itself. Once i've somehow managed to ignore all the shouting telling me I can't do it for various reasons (for me it's more groaning actually haha), the actual writing doesn't kill me. Nothing new really, but it bears repeating.

No doubt your job(s) are taxing, though. I couldn't even imagine. Be kind to yourself.

So do I! Thankfully, I am a stubborn girl otherwise I might be discouraged by the lack of Steve/Sam (and the lack of readers for it. I've written 3 MCU stories with a variety of pairings and the steve/sam gets far far less traffic) because I do think it is largely a racial issue. :/ Of course what else is new.
