Greetings LJ! Finally there is weather to talk about in California. If you haven't seen these cool animation and satellite photos of the storm hitting us, it's pretty awesome. It looks like a hurricane, and it acts quite a bit like one, too. I find it hilarious that after months of incessant dry weather and above-average temps, Escapade con rolls

That storm looks awesome. (I hope it doesn't set off mudslides or any other badness! Just nourishing rain!)

Sadly the mudslides have been happening all day. Lots of evacuations, but fortunately many were proactive evacs, so people were out of the neighborhoods before the mud started rolling.

I thought I was gonna die on my drive home from work today, and that's only a slight exaggeration. For the first part, it was a normal rainy drive like any other and then as I was on the 10 fwy heading for the 405 interchange it was literally one moment no rain, the next moment TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR with no visibility. All things in moderation, California! It's no fair trying to cram all the rain into one weekend!

Seriously! And if the bizarre weather is not enough, the fact that Californians drive just a wee bit insanely in the rain...does not help. (APOLOGIES.) I am not looking forward to driving out there tomorrow. Hopefully the rain will have died out.

Hopefully there won't be any rain for you on your drive down! Have a great visit! I was there yesterday. I might be there in the evening but I don't know yet and I may miss you entirely. booo.
