HA, yes, that was a serious WTF moment for me when that scene aired - I was like, what are they trying to say about him?? That he's a complete masochist or something?? That was odd. I feel relieved that there was a purpose to it. And also his hair. I sincerely hope he gets a Roman haircut when he leaves there. So we can see his green eyes better. *cough*
A few people in another forum mentioned that back then, the letting of blood was a common 'medical' treatment, and combined with some throwaway line about his pre-arrival shenanigans and something about going home to his wife, they theorized that he was trying to prevent bringing home STDs? They way they connected the dots, it seemed plausible.
But I am glad there was a plot related purpose for that weirdness.
I'm pretty much assuming everybody will die because otherwise I will hope for Agron and Nasir and Saxa to make it, and then I will cry forever at the finale-- But! Yeah, what's happening right now with all these fractions is super interesting.
I was not wild about Caesar in the beginning, but he's SO GOOD in this episode!
They are all doomed. So, so doomed. I want Crixus to live, but I think he's going to be the first to go. But yeah, I agree - there are a million tears coming between now and then. I don't think I've ever watched and loved a show before where they killed off pretty much every character along the way (seriously, Gannicus, Spartacus, Naevia, and Crixus are the only four to have hung in since the beginning, and we know how the story ends for at least two of them!), and YET I KEPT HOPING that someone I liked would live. *g*
Spartacus seems to have no clue what's going on in the city. The man needs to do a stealth walkabout like he did in the first episode when he found out that food was becoming a problem.

Though I'd also like for someone I like to survive, just for a glimmer of hope to exist in this show-world-thing.
