Little house in suburbia

Feb 21, 2009 13:46

I am all moved in to my home now, and now there is only cleaning the old place, and unpacking the new. This week I've had many adventures of the homeowning sort. Here are the top 10.

Oh boo, taraljc and Ginger beat me to the MacGuyver joke.

I have the storage space problem too. Which is now a pressing problem since the spare room has to become the baby's room. We may end up with the kid sleeping in a cardboard box. :-)

I am a huge fan of steam cleaning for stinky things/places. DIE LIVING MATTER DIE DIE DIE WITHOUT TOXIC FALLOUT! I also love dumping wet Oxi-Clean on everything but it is, I'm pretty sure, powdered hydrogen peroxide so if there's anything you don't want immediately oxidized (like say metal) that's... less than desirable.

I like the dress idea for michael but I'd also get him a buddy. Like, the snakes devouring Laocoon and his sons. Or something.

I would only have guessed those curtain rods are hard to hang because of all the little home devices I see them selling on TV to make it easy. Easy things don't need little tchotchke crap to MAKE them easy.

Your TV stand intrigues me. Post a pic?

There are devices? For hanging curtain rods?? I will have one of those, now that I know one exists. *g*

Re the TV stand - a pic for you!

I love that TV stand. May I ask where you got it? As I would like something that doesn't fill me with fear that it will tip over catastrophically to the side at any moment.

Of course I was watching QVC and saw some Thing that helped a person hang things like curtain brackets levelly, and of course I cannot now find it. I am useless. But I am sure such things exist.

Awesome!

For #6 -- try taking an old kitchen sponge, sticking your hand down the disposal with the sponge, and cleaning the *underside* of the rubber collar in the disposal. It's amazing (and disgusting) how much gunk gets caught under there.

SO looking forward to photos!

Dear MacGruber,

Does this mean you are still stuck to the contact paper?
