And the little asides (in the car, with Molly's reference to arguing, and Sam's smiling agreement, and Dean's BITCHFACE OMG), and so forth.
Oh, yeah, there was a ton of stuff in this ep that mirrored/reflected Sam and Dean, and how they deal with one another. "The last thing I said to him was call him a jerk!" Followed by the boys looking at each other, knowing that that's a term of endearment. *g*
I liked it well enough, and Tricia Helfer was good, and if the end was kinda cheesy, it was fun to get a mostly-outsider pov on the boys for a bit.
Definitely, you shouldn't read my SG-1 spoilers. I'm bitterfan. *g*
I thought the outsider POV was fun, too - it was nicely handled for the most part, and she is good enough to carry it off without making me wince at the anvils. *g*
All the silent communicating they did in this episode made me SO HAPPY.
And is it wrong to be happy whenever Dean gets annoyed and calls one of the guest stars "sister"? Because it amuses me SO MUCH. And then he calls the car "baby," and apologizes. *hearts*
Thank you for your Roadkill review; for some reason I just didn't heart the episode and I've been trying to read positive ones to see some other viewpoints that might help me discover a kernel of appreciation for this one. I mean, I understood the motivation behind the ways Sam and Dean acted--all of it pointing of course to the denouement of Molly's true state--but to me it still felt too ponderously contrived and pointed. I guess I would have preferred it to be a bit more subtle, so that in retrospect you'd really have to reprocess the boys' words and actions to enjoy the full effect of realizing they knew the 'secret' all along. As it was, it just seemed to me like the writers were practically holding up a neon sign when Sam was talking to Molly upstairs, saying "PAY ATTENTION, THIS WILL BE SO IMPORTANT IN HINDSIGHT!" And whereas you saw the more sensitive part of Dean, to me it seemed he was being a bit overly obnoxious in my opinion in respect to the script's showing HIS knowledge beforehand of Molly's being a ghost. My 23 yr old
( ... )
*nod* Those are all good points; sometimes the anvils and the contrived nature of things get to me, too. The obnoxiousness of Dean was lessened, for me, because this was largely an outsider POV, and so we were to some extent seeing Dean through Molly's eyes, and hence their relationship as well through her eyes. So I just sort of had to shift perspective a bit to see it that way.
That's a good point; I kept forgetting to take that stance of viewing the boys through Molly's eyes. If and when I watch it again, that perspective will hopefully make the episode a bit better for me.
Yay! :D Thank you for all the help you kindly provided so I could figure out what the heck I was doing. *g*
Rome: yes, this is the last season, unfortunately. Just a couple more episodes to go. And SPN - I have no idea, but if it isn't soon, GAH. I have to believe they know what they're going to do, so WHY DON'T THEY JUST TELL US!? *g*
My sister read somewhere yesterday that it's looking good for the CW shows that have not already been announced cancelled, because apparently they've done nothing in the way of producing new pilots. More rumors, I know, but I like this one, so I'm passing it on.
