It has taken them a great deal to be here. Here, at this point in their lives and not so much here, Paris. Though there was that, too. Both are self-confessed workaholics, and it admittedly takes a near miracle for Rachel to agree to a vacation.

This one is special. This one is different for many reasons, and it's hard to describe what it feels like, looking at him and knowing not only is she spending the rest of her life with him, but she's going to marry him ( ... )

Robin would much prefer sleeping in bed at the moment. Though he does love Rachel, and he is more than happy to obey her in most instances. He opens his eyes blearily, looks at her, and then shakes his head.

He reaches for her arm to pull her back in bed with him.

"Up and at 'em is really rather overrated, don't you think?"

If he can pull her in close enough, he will be kissing her neck and her chin and her mouth and any skin that he can get his lips near. They are in Paris together, and he is peaceful, and calm, and happy, and more mature than he has ever been in the entirety of his life. It is a wonderful feeling. The past has been shut away in some corner of a bookshelf. Not all vengeance angels are this lucky to be able to do this, and he realizes that.

He loves her. He loves her, they're in Paris together, they will be married. It isn't his fault that he can't keep his hands off of her.

And this bed is incredibly comfortable, and she looks gorgeous dressed or half dressed or undressed.

What a coincidence, Robin! Rachel loves being obeyed in all instances, but she'll take what she can get. Most instances is rather pleasing, and truth be told, she does love a bit of a challenge. She smiles brightly--and enticingly, she hopes--once his eyes open.

"No, it is rather necessary."

Note she is not being contrary merely for the sake of it. This is a woman on a mission. "Haven't you ever heard the saying, the early bird gets the worm?"

She laughs softly and lets herself be pulled, falling on top of him with a small, surprised noise. She melts into the kisses, and it's very easy to pretend it isn't so early in the morning. The thick drapes are closed, the sheets are inviting, and he is the most inviting of all.

Her arms slide around his neck as she kisses him back momentarily. She's about to stand up again when her neck is tended to.

"Robin," Rachel says warningly, hands still flattened on either side of him to push herself up. She'll be pushing herself up any moment now. Really.

...It is a very comfortable bed, but she' ( ... )

That is quite the coincidence indeed!

"Necessary, is it?"

One should note the sleepy quality to his voice. He is also being contrary merely for the sake of it. Robin Rice very rarely stays in bed when he could be up and about. In fact, the only thing that generally keeps him in bed is the desire to spend a few more minutes or hours with her there in it. "No, I've absolutely never heard that saying."

Wince. He can lie when it's obvious that they both know that he is lying. Yes, the contrary to be contrary is easy to pull off, and it is much easier to continue his insisting that they stay in bed when she laughs like that.

His mouth follows the length of her neck, rather pleased that she is still here in bed with him as opposed to finishing getting dressed. It is only when she says his name in that tone that he pulls back to have a proper look at her.

"Rachel," he says and then sends her a brilliant smile that show off all of his teeth. They are rather nice, straight teeth despite what stereotypes about British people would lead ( ... )

Their first trip to Paris involved ensuring Rachel saw all of the key attractions the city had to offer and was infamous for. The Eiffel Tower. The Louvre (and the Mona Lisa was rather unimpressive in the end, truth be told). The Notre Dame cathedral. The promenade at Champs-Elysées. And so on. And so forth ( ... )

They can't get lost. Robin knows this city as well as he knows Chicago. It is strange to try for spontaneity, but it's a good strange. He likes being surprised by where they end up.

There are plenty of places in this city that he has yet to visit, and he would like to experience those places with her. Even the streets lined with chocolate on either side.

Robin is not as big a fan of chocolate as Rachel is, but he does enjoy it. The dark chocolate especially. Robin has finished another sample, licking the chocolate off the tips of his fingers. He gives her a sideways look and a fond smile after she has yet another sample.

"I'm beginning to think we'll never leave this street," he says, sliding his arm around her waist and leaning in to kiss her. "How's that one taste, Miss Dawes?"

There is a whole shop filled with dark chocolate alone, Robin. Go to town! Rachel most certainly is. She's found she's partial to white chocolate, and certain milk chocolate types with caramel fillings. The narration now...really wants chocolate.

She leans in to the kiss, tasting the dark chocolate on his lips and pulls back with pursed lips and bright eyes. "Very good. It's impossible to choose. If we do remain here forever, I won't complain."

This is said mostly to be teasing. Mostly. Rachel may have forgotten these were supposed to be gifts, and may keep them instead.

Plucking a square of chocolate from the tasting tray, she lifts it up toward his mouth to offer him one. "See for yourself." Even those that aren't innate chocolate lovers cannot resist.

Robin is not that excited about chocolate. He will not go to town, but he will indulge more than he normally would because she's so into it and it's hard not to be influenced by her excitement.

"I don't think I will complain either," he says with a smile against her lips just before she pulls back.

No one will mind if she keeps those gifts for herself. Mostly because no one will know they were supposed to be for other people except perhaps, Robin.

He smiles a little more when she lifts that chocolate up to his mouth, and he takes a bite. Robin pretends to think critically on it as if it takes so much time and concentration to identify the sugary, sweet, rich taste in his mouth as delicious.

"Rachel Dawes, I do believe you've found the best chocolate in the world... no, universe."

And his final reaction is a little over exaggerated and teasing but he really did enjoy the chocolate.

It is a normal cool, sunny day in Paris at some point before they leave the city for the last time. Robin walks down the sidewalk with his hand in Rachel's, tightening his hold on her hand as they walk. They are talking about nothing in particular at the time.

Maybe their past year together as they have had a habit of reliving their past on this trip. Maybe they are talking about this past trip with the train ride to London, the chocolate, the river ride, and the movie in the park.

At some point in this walk, Robin stops. He leans against the railing that's near and pulls her in against him by the waist. Robin tightens his hold, leans in, and kisses her, pulling back with a smile. He is unaware of anything and anyone other than her. "You know, Rachel Dawes, before we can get married, we have to find a church."

It's meant to be an offhanded comment. Robin does not think that they will actually go looking for a church right now but as the idea forms in his mind, it feels right.

The time feels right. The place feels right. The ( ... )

It is with bittersweet Rachel accepts their vacation has come to a near end. She can't be too upset about it. She'd like to stay a little longer, but that's not in the cards. And what time they did have was so amazing she can't begrudge the fact it's over ( ... )

It has been amazing. Robin will miss their time in Paris. He will miss Paris but most of all, he will miss sharing it with her. It has been... perfect, frankly, and he rarely uses that word to describe anything, but there is nothing he would change about their trip. Nothing he would have liked to do differently. No time spent in a hotel room that he wishes they'd spent in the city, and no time spent in the city that he wishes had been spent in bed with her instead ( ... )

While she does prefer to stick to routine and plan out most things ahead--if she can, Rachel loved the lack of planning. They took a train and went wherever they wanted to go, whenever they felt like going. They'd wake up without a set time, no alarm reminding them there was somewhere they needed to be. They'd return to the hotel whenever they were done, whether it was late or not. They did whatever they felt like doing and she has never felt more rested and at peace ( ... )
