An activity for a rainy day

Geneviève is in the lobby.  After some research and some experimentation, she figured out an old VHS player (the top of technology, as far as our 1960's ingenue is concerned), and got a hold of some Alfred Hitchcock movies.

She did mention this before to a friend, and at the same time, she got somewhat influenced by Monsieur Lazarus' idea, and so ( Read more... )

Andros spots her when he's going through the lobby and smiles at her as he goes over. "Hi, Genevieve." He looked at the VCR and the tapes curiously, he hadn't quite seen everything Earth had to offer yet. "What's this?"

Genevieve gives Andros a beaming smile. "Andros!" She'll kiss his cheek - by sheer force of habit. "I don't know what it's called, but it plays movies. Do you remember, when I talked about Hitchcock?"

He blushes and pulls back a little out of habit when she does. "I remember. These are his movies?" He points at the tapes.

She nods. "They are. They all have Princess Grace Kelly in it - she's beautiful." She smiles a little. "But they are a bit scary."

These movies are from Joan's era, too, and she's thrilled to see someone else appreciate them. She smiles at Genevieve and picks up Rear Window. "This one's my favorite of the three."

Genevieve smiles back, and nods. "I like it very much as well - such a scary story, but at least it does have a happy ending!"

"I like it because it could really happen. The city is really like that -- if you look down the wrong alley you could really find yourself in trouble." She glances down at the tapes again, a little befuddled by their size. (Where are the reels?) "Which one do you like best?"

"I truly enjoyed Dial M for Murder," she replies with a smile. "Margot is so strong, and the plot is very well constructed."

She notices Joan's befuddlement, but graciously doesn't comment - she was rather surprised too, until she figured it all out.

Warren wanders through with his hands in his pockets, meaning to go outside but pauses when he sees her there surrounded by video equipment. He goes closer, curious despite himself. "What's all that?"

She looks up from the VCR, after finishing to remove the tape very cautiously. "Oh, hello Warren. It's movies," she says with a smile. "Alfred Hitchcock. Would you like to have a look?"

He shrugs and goes over. "I can tell it's movies. Which ones?" He likes movies, and suspense and thrillers are probably right up his alley.

She doesn't react to his little snap, though it pains her just a little. She feels like she should apologize for being from the wrong period, suddenly. "Oh, there's Dial M for Murder, Rear Window, and To Catch a Thief. They are very thrilling, and a bit..." she pauses. "Maybe not to you, but I find them scary, sometimes." Her smile belies the criticism, though.
