The man in the nice, well-tailored business suit with a large briefcase who has just come onboard doesn't even bother with the usual preliminaries of "where am I?", "how did I get here?", or, indeed, "hello". He's too busy talking on his cell phone to notice that he's onboard a cruise ship, apparently ( Read more... )

Olive wishes she had one to give him, but hers isn't working either. "It's still not working?" she asks quietly.

"No," her father grumbles, shaking the phone a little, as if it'll do anything at all. "I got it making outgoing calls, at least, for a little while, just long enough to find out what a shambles the office is in - Sanders really is pretty useless. Not long enough to do anything about it."

"I ... I bet they miss you..." After all, they know what it's like to have him all the time.

Bella, carrying a new armload of books, stops to look at the new arrival. From her earlier conversation with Olive, she knows that this could only be one man.

"Can't help you there, sugar." Maureen pauses and looks him up and down. "You look like the little pink girl. You must be the daddy Roger mentioned. Don't know what he was talking about... you're definitely a hottie."

Ostrovsky looks more than a little taken aback - probably helped by whatever Maureen is, or isn't, wearing. Especially if she looks like her icon.

"Excuse me?"

Maureen isn't looking quite like the icon, but there's leather involved somehow, possibly in the form of a miniskirt. She grins flirtatiously. "I'm Maureen Johnson. And you are?"
