A Picnic (open)

She's managed, somehow, to convince Erik to picnic with her. After dark, yes, but is a step. Christine has, from somewhere in her frightened heart, managed to decide that it is in Erik's best interest to learn that here he is not in such company, that here he will not be shunned ( Read more... )

Erik had seriously considered going against his word. The spectre of a man was antisocial, violent, a recluse... unless he was in a situation of complete control, he prefered not to show himself to anyone at all.

The naive girl had tricked him into it, had made him agree to her request before ever making it. Had he known before, he never would have agreed.

At least the masked figure had negociated some, desperately almost to have the terrifying event take place after dark.

While the madman had no qualms about breaking promises made to others, Christine was a unique execption.

After all that had happened, after all that had taken place he was still little more than a lapdog at her feet.

And so the masked man appears, silent as the grave in the night untile he speaks. "Christine."

She is glad he has come though and she stands some, politely. "Erik."

"I almost thought you wouldn't come." But Christine smiles to show she did not doubt his word, only his nature. She brushes her dress some. "I'm glad you came."

She sits down, once more and adjusts her skirts.

"I made a promise. I wasn't sure myself if I would come, but for you, Cherie, I came." Even at this hour of night for this occassion, he is in his formal opera suit and cape.

And this is where the awkwardness begins. The man is not at ALL used to social situations. Even at dinner five levels below the Opera they only ever spoke of music...

...What exactly does one do at a picnic?

And this makes her feel very special and she smiles. "Thank you. I am glad, Angel that I meant enough for you to come."

She will help him. "Sit down, Erik?"

Christine opens the picnic basket and withdraws the items she has packed, a light meal, Erik rarely eats. "Have you been composing lately, Angel?"

Sure, there were lots of girls who fit the phantom's description, there was no guarantee that this is the one he's supposed to speak to... But a sinking feeling in his stomach tells him it probably is. He considers walking on, but the cold night air on the back of his neck reminds him of his promise.

"Ah, Christine?" The word is not out of his mouth before his face has gone completely red. Spooks aside, he really is just no good at talking to girls. "Is it Christine Daae?"

T: Ok, this is sort of superfluous what with the Phantom being right there, but I do so enjoy making Jim squirm.

She turns her attention to him. "I am she."

Typist: I'll be sure to draw it out then. ^^

Jim stares at her mournfully. So he will have to give the horrible message after all.

"I'm Jim," he finally manages, blushing furiously. "I had a message for you."

Since it's after dark, Louis is prowling around outside in search of food. Yes, he knows that there are willing people back inside who would enjoy helping with that problem; but he prefers this, for the moment. So he'll happen by the picnic, looking mildly startled.

"Oh. Pardon me, mademoiselle."

*she stumbles upon the picnic by complete accident (as she often does things) and smiles when she sees it?* Oh! A picnic! I like picnics!
