The naive girl had tricked him into it, had made him agree to her request before ever making it. Had he known before, he never would have agreed.
At least the masked figure had negociated some, desperately almost to have the terrifying event take place after dark.
While the madman had no qualms about breaking promises made to others, Christine was a unique execption.
After all that had happened, after all that had taken place he was still little more than a lapdog at her feet.
And so the masked man appears, silent as the grave in the night untile he speaks. "Christine."

"I almost thought you wouldn't come." But Christine smiles to show she did not doubt his word, only his nature. She brushes her dress some. "I'm glad you came."
She sits down, once more and adjusts her skirts.

And this is where the awkwardness begins. The man is not at ALL used to social situations. Even at dinner five levels below the Opera they only ever spoke of music...

Christine opens the picnic basket and withdraws the items she has packed, a light meal, Erik rarely eats. "Have you been composing lately, Angel?"

"Ah, Christine?" The word is not out of his mouth before his face has gone completely red. Spooks aside, he really is just no good at talking to girls. "Is it Christine Daae?"
