She’s an awkward thing, pretty enough though she can’t see it, with dark hair and eyes and a dreamy look across her face. Her eyes rove the place as if she’s comfortable with suddenly finding herself in a new place (and she is, really, enough anyways) but curious as to what the place is, how she arrived there and why she is there ( Read more... )

I could find out where we are. I'm with the Brown Detective Agency. My fees are only a quarter a day.

At this rate Encyclopedia may be able to collect five days' fees for one day's work.

You're a little young to be a detective, aren't you? *tilts her head some, but not in a rude way, more in the manner of curiosity* A quarter, huh?

Well, I'm smarter than the average policeman, and there are many children, like yourself, who could use the services of a detective without the $50/hour fees of an adult. A quarter is always a reasonable price. I would say they appear under couch cushions, but that would be wrong. A quarter is minted from silver, copper, and steel at the US Treasury and shipped to banks. People who take rolls of quarters home from banks eventually lose the coins under the cushion. Very handy for children.

*smiles, amused* Well, I'm sure I can figure this out on my own, but if I ever need a mystery solved, I have a coin-purse of quarters and dimes and nickles and I'll be sure to come to you first.

--You'll see how very un-cultured it can be here sooner or later, I'm afraid.

*smiles* It is lovely to meet you, Mlle. Williams.

Still, so far everyone's been rather polite.

Just Sarah, please?
