To discuss our typists a bit more...

This may have come up before I arrived, but I've recently been forced to suffer through some of the most ridiculous "music" I have ever heard and therefore was wondering what you lot have had to put up with. My typist just got through listening to a "musical" entitled "Batboy." As far as I can tell, it has something to do with a deformed bat- ( Read more... )

Ours isn't too bad.

Except for all the depressing break-up-type stuff and the boomy "techno" junk.

It could still be worse.

It could still be quieter.

Oi.

Bugger off.

Don't mind him. He's cranky.

Quite well, actually. It doesn't hurt that she likes swing. I never realized that Broadway was so enjoyable.

Except for that strange "punk" *coughyeahrightcough* music. It's whiny.

Well, it's nice to know that some of us were luckier than others. Mine actually has a collection of jazz, which isn't half bad.

You now have my typist digging for "The Ramones" and "The Sex Pistols," neither of which I'm familiar with. I'm not sure I actually wish to change that.

My typist doesn't have any decent rock--except for the Beatles and Queen--of any kind. It's very disappointing, really.

She listens to classical music, and I definately approve of that.

Aside from that, these Beatles are certainly starting to grow on me. So... not bad at all. I think I got off lucky. Except when she listens to something called 'Rammstein.' Then I don't feel as lucky.

I'll have you know that my typist laughed when you mentioned Rammstein.

Laugh? Why, what is so amusing?

She says it brought back memories of something. She wouldn't say more. And no... Rammstein is NOT amusing. She let me listen to some...

Mine doesn't have any Beatles records. Not a single one.

That's a great deficiency.

Other than that, I rather like hers. She's got a lot of other older singers that I like, and some of the new ones she listens to, like that Robbie Williams guy, and Norah Jones, sound pretty good to me. Also, she's got lots of musicals, and most of them are pretty good. Right now she's listening to a lady called Linda Eder. She sings wonderfully.

Not a single one? You're kidding me.

My typist is absurdly young and still has at least six.

She protests that she does like them very much. She just doesn't happen to own any CDs, though she'll gladly listen to them when she gets a chance.

I'd better do something about that the next time she walks by a used record store.

Diable! My secretary, as she has said to yours, madame, listens also to this Linda Eder. Sacre, she changes her albums -- which are no longer the vinyl but the strange metal disc -- to the same you hear for yourself now, for she wishes to "kick up the energy" to utilise myself and her other puppet, "the short fat men."

Hercule Poirot, he is not fat! Is it a crime to enjoy the cuisine? Not that I am able to enjoy the food served here. To be portly, it is a sign of good health and lust for life. Pardieu!

My typist doesn't have taste when it comes to music.

Most Some of what she listens to can't exactly be called music - some of it, however, is quite beautiful. She takes most of her musical pride in the fact that she is in possession of a complete "em pee three" of Mozart's Requiem. That is ... probably the only good piece she forces me to listen to. There's this one track she listens to over and over of a girl crying.

Crying? You must be joking. Why on earth would anyone want to just listen to someone crying? That's... Well, it's disturbing, is what it is.

Oh what I wouldn't give for a good bit of Mozart right now.

I wish I was joking. Really, I do. She says that it's a "clip" from some show called "Firefly" and that if I had any taste I would appreciate it, but ... well, you know. Typists!

Mine is smiling and nodding. And now she says she's going to make me listen to the theme song for this "Firefly."
