Ah! Quite pleased to meet you as well, I'm sure. Have you been through much misfortune lately, if I may ask?

Simple deductive guessing, nothing more. Have you celebrated your suffering yet?

Oh, my dear master, it is you! How wonderful it is to see you once more!

But tell me sir, after everything that has happened to us, is your view of natural and moral evil still the same?

Naturally! It could not be so otherwise. Do not tell me that you have forsaken my teachings to believe in some other nonsensical doctrine?

Oh-- No, of course not! How could I ever forsake your philosophies, Pangloss?

*perks up* *yay, philosopher!* But surely, sir, you agree that all things that are there to happen must happen in a proper way and a proper place in order to be good, and humans having free will we may alter and corrupt the natural order, thus turning what was good into great evil?

*has mad philosophical gleam in eye*

Although I agree with you that this world, as it is meant to be, is indeed good.

*beams!*

Typist: PANGLOSS! *attaches self to the mad optimist*

Events may seem to be evil, great or small, at any given moment of observation: however, when nature runs its complete course, it is just as obvious that all things have been for the best. What humans do, young man, is also part of this natural course, and it cannot steer the forces of the universe away from heading towards goodness.

T/N: Oh, 'mad philosophical gleam'... that kills me.
