So! *as imperious as Luna can be, which isn't very at all*

*wide-eyed* It has come to my attention that you are all in danger. There's a disease known as "Scringy Socialitis", and it might be affecting all of you right at this very moment, and you'd never know it ( Read more... )

That sounds like a scary disease! O.O What are the symptoms?

I'm not in danger of it...but...I'm bored. So...

Leather boots. I like leather boots okay, I guess. I never wear them, though. Do you like them?

Boredom is actually one of the symptoms. It's awful. *nods sagely*

Leather boots ... Well, they're very useful when you attend Hagrid's Care of Magical Creatures classes. Heaven knows what you'll step in while around his hut! They're also quite nice while riding a thestral; you don't slip as much.

Oh. Well, I haven't talked to anybody from my own book for ages, I think, so I don't think I have it.

What's a thestral?

Well ... it's a bit hard to explain, but I'll try my best. A thestral is a bit like a horse, except that it's all black with wings, and has a bonier look to it. They're almost like skeletal horses. They pull carriages at the school that I go to. I quite like them!

Although, you can only see them if you've witnessed somebody die. Otherwise, they're invisible.

Well, now. *soft kind of thoughtful* I think they're very useful--if they're made of the right kind of leather. The fancy sort that nobles wear aren't much good, but strong leather makes a sturdy boot, and they're good for marching, or working, or walking without making any noise.

Oh! That's exactly what I think! *pleased smile*

You're very smart, sir.

Thank you, Miss. *does his half-salute* Only telling what I know.

...Is it at all fatal? I do fear that 'm afflicted with more than enough plagues at the moment, and would rather not pick up another. I suppose what comes, does, though.

Anyway. I honestly do not care much for any sort 'f boots. Leather ones are nice enough, if they're cut right, though.

*cute!smile* You could talk to me, Uncle Joly. Maybe that would help.

Well Alice, I'd certainly talk to you more 'f I actually happened to find you sometime. What have you been up to, dear thing?

I find illnesses have a way of working around normality to get to me, though, so I'd best try to be safe.

*brightly* Oh, I've been very busy! Why, I've learned how to bake so many things, and I met so many new friends and I made 'smores once and I did some finger-painting and I met some knights and Mordred is so very nice!

Don't be sick, Uncle Joly. *hugs him*

*lights a cigarette and thinks* Leather boots... They don't taste as good as you might think.

Don't start smoking, kid. It'll kill you faster than Stringy Scolies.

*muses* But they are sometimes a delicacy in Lithuania, I've heard.

*heartily* Right you are, doll. I once met a gypsy whose family was from those parts. She told me all about steel-toed boot on the half-shell, and lady's kidskin heels a la mode.

*bemusedly* Well, I don't think I've contracted the disease, since I've been spending obscene amounts of time with someone not from my own book at all.

But, leather boots...? Oh, er...I suppose they're nice. I haven't ever actually worn any myself.

You should try it sometime! They're actually quite comfortable.
