I am curious as to what everyone here thinks of "modern" music?

I am having some problem with one of my headmates who currently has an addiction to Rammstein and her favourite song, Dalai Lama, is one about a plane crash (though I do have to agree slightly with her assement that her second favourite, Reise Reise almost fits with the fanfic it has ( Read more... )

Some of it is agreeable. Though I wonder how some can even be considered "music" at all, when it seems to posess no tune whatsoever, and any singing involved sounds more like shouting. I am quite fond of some of the gentler sorts of music, by artists such as Enya and Clannad. I do rather like the style of music that is called "Irish".

It seems that I am rather stuck on music that was written before my birth to darkness. I can't quite get my head around most of the recent music, it is all either rather pointless or depressing. Whenever Lestat comes for a visit, he is always going on about some new band. I can never quite understand it.

I enjoy some of my secretary's music, but a good deal of it is simply dreadful. There are a few good strings pieces, but she is altogether too absorbed in what she refers to as "show tunes," most of which are extremely irritating.

Although, to my horror, this "Anything Goes" musical seems to be growing on me.

Thankfully, my typist has an extremely eclectic taste in music, though there are some songs and bands that I find vaguely disagreeable.

Lately she's been obsessed with a musical called Wicked (I'm sure Mlle. Thropp and Mlle. Galinda would find this agreeable) and I gladly admit that it is very good.
