Hello.

I have many names. You may know me most.. easily.. as Pestilence.

I was born at the evolution of the first bacterium.

I struck terror into the souls of many.

I retired in 1936. Penicillin is a bitch.

But I'm still around. (Especially in... less-developed countries.)

And I certainly still have fun.

*frowns* Aye, I know ye too. It'd be nice if ye kept your distance from me an' my loved ones, sir.

*sighs* I know this one too. What did you have, Mr. Kennedy?

*looks nervously at Pestilence*

*pauses* Typist?

Hm. We're not actually sure. But when one gets shot and doesn't die fairly immediately, and one is in the West Indies, there's probably something else at work.

But in any case, when you're at sea long enough, you see enough of it.

*smiles reassuringly* Don't worry, most of these sorts seem more or less harmless here.

Pernicious fever of some sort? That was what I had. It would have killed me, but -

There was. Er. Actually, I'm not sure how to explain what happened, except to say that someone managed to leave quinine for me on my table. So they were able to break it.

*still looks uncomfortable* Mostly, yes. But I'm still not completely recovered from last time, so...

Elves can't get sick, so nyah! *dances healthily*

Except in the mind, of course. We're all pretty messed up.

Welcome. I'm sure you'll have fun here.

Oh, I'm sure I will.

And you sure you don't want to at least try to be sick?

It's quite refreshing, really.

Really, my dear thing, I wish you would leave my Joly alone. It's rather upsetting at times.

I do leave him alone.

He just thinks I don't. Which is really almost as good.
