It's really been a while since...

... since we saw the Merlin. Or, alternatively, since Merlin saw anyone.  His two housemates have been more social than himself, lately, and he's feeling the uncanny desire to see people, meet new people.

So here's a wizard, smoking a pipe in the chill autumn air, looking at the yellow leaves in the trees and the humid, dying grass on the ground.

Jaenelle is not sure if she's still welcome. They have had some rough patches, and relationships in general have not been feeling so secure lately. She sits next to him, though, probably just on the porch with her legs dangling over the ground, half watching him through eyes that are quite a regular blue.

"That is ill news for them," Merlin replies, frowning. "Do you fear a war of sorts?"

Because for him, that is a serious case of Do. Not. Want.

This is what ticks her off, though: "Nothing so formal. Only more - sneak attacks, which may be more dangerous."

"And more difficult to anticipate, indeed," he replies, sighing.

She nods, seriously. "I'm - worried someone will be seriously hurt. Killed. Things are precarious enough as it is..."

[myrddin_wyllt]

"... how so, Jaenelle?"

[ebonyjaenelle72]

Her eyes are a little older, for a moment. "It's getting on toward winter. The nights grow longer and colder. I don't think even this relative peace can last."

[myrddin_wyllt]

"This is true. The more obscurity lingers, the graver the chance that the Dark Lord will strike."

She sighs. "And I'm afraid what will happen when he does, or what form it will take."

[myrddin_wyllt]

"One thing is certain. It will be different than the last."

[ebonyjaenelle72]

Jaenele sighs, a little, and looks at Merlin. "...I wish there was more of a way to prepare."

[myrddin_wyllt]

"As do I, truly," he replies, sighing. "Though I suppose making sure that the place where folks are concentrated is safe is probably your best assurance."

She nods. "I will - if Galadriel can't, I've - made a second line. It should hold even if...something happens to me."

[myrddin_wyllt]

"Nothing will happen to you," he replies, firmly. "It would not be acceptable."

She looks down, a little. "But it's not impossible, either. I have to think about it."

[myrddin_wyllt]

"As we all do. Is there anything I might do?"
