An improvised little party of sorts

Sep 06, 2009 15:12

Ever since they had to relocate, Sugar has been thoughtfully pondering on things that she could do for the community.  It seems to her that every time something joyful happens, she has nothing to do with it, and that every time trouble comes forth, someone is there for her and Sophie.

Therefore, a young red-head in her very late teens and an eight ( Read more... )

Caliban probably wasn't aware of this, likely still having been asleep at the time that Sugar woke up. Being sort of responsible doesn't mean he's not the same sleepy boy as always.

Wandering outside, though, he half smiles on seeing his two favorite girls, and pauses to lean against the side of the house, kind of watching them, but not going to join them just yet. Leftover instincts make him hang back from things like this - parties, gatherings, even with only two people. He's been watching them for so long, being part of them is strange at the least.

Unfortunately, once Sophie has caught sight of her daddy, she abandons the hand game without warning and runs to him, with a joyful cry.

"Dadddddyyyyy!" And Cal, be ready, because she will be tackling at fairly clumsily, laughing and very eager in her attentions.

--whoaaaa. Well, tackled, and he does manage to plant his feet before he is, so he only sways a little. "Christ - Sophie, hi-" but his smile widens to a grin and he's kind of laughing, too.

She's laughing and holding his leg. "You're awake! Come, there's a surprise!"

We assume that Phedre is resting, and Sandor is only away from her a moment, perhaps getting something from the kitchen. He does notice Sophie, though, and if he's making food he'll keep one eye on her and one on what he's doing and one on the food, which is how he ends up gashing his finger and proceeds to cursing, vehemently. Dammit.

Unfortunately, the first person to respond to this is the maternal figure, who turns an eye onto the cursing man, grabs her daughter, and takes a step back.

Her voice is quiet. "Are you in need of assistance, sir?"

She's firmly holding a mutinous Sophie to her.

Sandor's eyes flick skyward, just a moment, taking a towel and pressing it to the slice in his finger. "No." Kind of flat, though he does give Sophie a bit of a look and almost a flicker of a not-smile.

"That's not true, you're bleeding," Sophie blurts out. She tries to tug away from her mother to go help Sandor, ineffectively.

Hold on for Sugar.

Here's an uncle Sophie hasn't seen in a while! He comes wandering out into the sun, still broody and unhappy but a bit less, and healing slowly though he still doesn't look great. sitting on the stairs, he is watching Sophie and Sugar as well, with a small frown of not quite worry - he hasn't seen the twins in some time - and picking absently at the bandages on his hands. He's glad to see her unharmed, at least.

Sophie will eventually spot him, and while her mother is setting up a blanket, she will steal away and come to stand in front of him, putting her face in his line of vision.

"Hullo."

He finds a very small flicker of a smile, and does bow his head, as he might to any lady. "Lady Sophie," with his usual solemnity, though perhaps a bit more pronounced.

"Uncle Tyelko..." she reaches, very delicately, to touch a bandage on him. "... what happened to you?"

Robb has managed to get out of his room likely with help from Belize, and for a restless boy it's a very good thing, and even better when he spies who is out on the lawn. Then he breaks into a true smile - even if it does stretch healing skin - and changes direction to go toward them, slightly patchy-furred wolf at his side.

"L - Sugar! Sophie!"

"Robb!" Sugar grins, and she makes a beckoning motion, stilling the game. "Come, oh, marvelous! I was hoping you would come!"

She really was, she did worry about him when she didn't see him around in the days that followed the fire.

Sophie is bouncing up and down, ridiculously.

Robb speeds his pace and goes over to sit down with them. "Of course - I would not miss a - party? - of yours for the world. I am glad to see you, and safe-" And his relief is evident - after the immediate fear for Angelique, he thought of Sophie and Sugar and was afraid.

Robb is going to get covered in happy Sophie! She effectively gives him an impetuous hug the moment he sits down.

"It's a picnic, Uncle Robb! Look, there's egg sandwiches, and cucumber sandwiches, and ham, and some cold potatoes, and..."

Armand is curious. He hasn't seen much festive or pleasant lately around here. He arrives late, mostly because he doesn't hurry when he's trying to decide things anymore and not because his typist has been sick. He smiles at the two girls who seem to be the hostesses. "May I join your party, mademoiselles?"

Sugar stands, gives Armand a curtsey that betrays her low birth, though elegant it may be. "But of course, Sir. It is always a pleasure to meet a new face."

Hold on for Sophie.

Sophie does the same, also giving a bobbing curtsey, rendered slightly ridiculous by her modern attire.

"Good afternon, sir. Do you want a sandwich?"

Armand bows back to both of them, as solemn as he can manage while still smiling in happy amusement at two pretty young girls being cheerful and happy on a nice day. "I would love a sandwich. Do you have any cucumber ones?" He thinks a moment longer, then adds, "I'm always happy to meet new people too. I'm Armand. I used to live her a while ago, then left for a bit. I have a house nearby now."
