An improvised little party of sorts

Ever since they had to relocate, Sugar has been thoughtfully pondering on things that she could do for the community.  It seems to her that every time something joyful happens, she has nothing to do with it, and that every time trouble comes forth, someone is there for her and Sophie.

Caliban probably wasn't aware of this, likely still having been asleep at the time that Sugar woke up. Being sort of responsible doesn't mean he's not the same sleepy boy as always.

Wandering outside, though, he half smiles on seeing his two favorite girls, and pauses to lean against the side of the house, kind of watching them, but not going to join them just yet. Leftover instincts make him hang back from things like this - parties, gatherings, even with only two people. He's been watching them for so long, being part of them is strange at the least.

Unfortunately, once Sophie has caught sight of her daddy, she abandons the hand game without warning and runs to him, with a joyful cry.

"Dadddddyyyyy!" And Cal, be ready, because she will be tackling at fairly clumsily, laughing and very eager in her attentions.

[emocaliban]

--whoaaaa. Well, tackled, and he does manage to plant his feet before he is, so he only sways a little. "Christ - Sophie, hi-" but his smile widens to a grin and he's kind of laughing, too.

[sophie_darling]

She's laughing and holding his leg. "You're awake! Come, there's a surprise!"

"A surprise? Oh no. Should I be scared?" But he looks up, across, at Sugar, still grinning. This is always amazing to him.

Across the lawn, Sugar gives Cal a grin and blows him a kiss, before she winks and beckons him over.

Hold on for Sophie.

[sophie_darling]

Sophie is already tugging Cal to cross the distance with her. "Yes, a surprise, but I shan't tell you, Daddy, because it would spoil it, and that would be no fun."

Cal can't help a chuckle. "Well. Now you've got me really worried, who knows what kind of thing you might have concocted for me..." teasing, of course, and his grin widens a little at the blown kiss. This - it's like having a family. Whoa.

[sophie_darling]

"Oh, it's very very horrible. You should be very very afraid," Sophie says, as sternly as she can.

[emocaliban]

"Oooh," he says, fighting to keep a straight face. "I am. Absolutely terrified."

[sophie_darling]

"You should be. It's really big and scary." She keeps tugging him.

[emocaliban]

...that actually does make him a little nervous. "Is it a person?"

[crimson_sugar]

Sugar laughs, then, beckoning him. "No, love, just come, won't you?"

[emocaliban]

"Sophie's making me a little nervous," he confesses, but smiles at her a little more and isn't stopping.

[sophie_darling]

"No, no, it's fine. Really," Sophie insists, still tugging, and after a bit, she drops his hand to run back to the blankets.

He shakes his head a little and follows her, though, lengthening his stride to get there faster.
