Crackplot

Karla has never been a firm believer in avoiding anything. As someone who tends to face problems head on, she thinks that people around here do altogether too much avoiding of them. In order to help with this, a room somewhere near the main one is surrounded with a Tangled Web, intricately and carefully woven and almost entirely invisible.

Caliban of all people should know not to go through closed doors. Unfortunately, Caliban is not very good at remembering things like that, and so when he's wandering around the Mansion for no particular reason, the closed door tugs at him and he goes over and opens it, wondering what that's all about. And wary, as usual. But of course, no one is there, and he steps inside after a brief pause.

A moment later someone is standing there, at the window, dressed in his clothes and staring out. Caliban blinks, sure that he wasn't there a moment ago. And disturbed by the way he looks - the young man turns and grins, and Caliban stares at his own face, silver-eyed. It grins at him, then vanishes.

Caliban is just going to be leaning against the wall outside the room, shaking and a bit wild-eyed.

Well... here's a brother. He's not going to waste much time - he wasn't quite far, ever since that incident, he's been keeping an eye on Cal, like the hawk that he is.

"Cal?" He comes near, puts his hands on both shoulders, to steady him, to shake him up. "Cal!"

Cal looks up and stares at Niko, blankly at first and definitely a little wild around the eyes. "Nik?"

His voice is quiet, but there's a little corner of his mind that just...won't stop screaming.

"Yeah, Nik." He's trying to pin the brother's eyes with his own. "Right here, grasshopper. Right here."

What the hell went on here?

Fitz is still trying to walk off his mood, wandering around aimlessly when he finds the room and thinks he hears something inside. Stepping through the door, he looks around, and -

A woman in red skirts, young, her hair nearly as red as her skirt and loose around he shoulders, looks at him and laughs, and he starts toward her, startled. "Molly?" She holds out her hand to him, and a moment later his hand closes on nothing and she is gone.

He stands there staring at the empty room for a long time, and only someone who knows him very well might recognize the tears welling in his eyes that he's trying so desperately to hold back.

Well... here's his sort-of girlfriend... looking at him very worriedly.

"Love?" She cuts the distance almost without thinking, going to him like one does to a broken lover.

If he lets her, she's going to offer a hug - without asking questions.

He accepts the hug, willingly, taking a shaky breath and not blinking. Maybe the tears will go away.

"I'm fine."

"Of course you are," she murmurs, softly, as if to say, even if you are not, it changes nothing of how I feel about you, ever.

Well.

If anyone is looking for a certain small thief, he's most likely to be found briefly in his room, packing and scrawling a short note for Valen and another to the Sanzas that consists of one word, underlined. Hide. He slings a small bag on his back, just enough for a couple days, and starting away from the Mansion, face oddly still and resigned.

Because it's finally happened, the Falconer is here, and there is no way on earth he's getting his friends killed again. He makes no effort to hide his tracks.

Valen barely reads the note before he's out the door, getting a short distance away from the mansion before dropping to his knees and pressing his hands and forehead against the ground, letting magic extend into the earth, looking for Locke. It's a simple enough matter and he's off in moments, moving quickly after Locke.

He's moving fairly fast, but probably not fast enough, not really going anywhere, just getting out of the Mansion. Better him than anyone else, dammit, even if - well, grimace.

He does feel a little regret, vaguely, because of Valen, but of course it's for his own good.

Valen is moving quickly as well, and he doesn't need to stop to rest. He's not going to let Locke do whatever he intends to alone, and at least if he's there Locke will have more warning before anything happens, if it does. He's probably sense the magic.

Felix comes strolling downstairs and senses a flicker of magic. And being Felix, follows it without thinking too much. Slightly distracted, however, going through thoughts of his personal research, he's completely taken by surprise when he looks up and sees a horrifyingly familiar face looking at him, smiling that little knowing smile. He almost feels his knees melt as it takes a step toward him.

"Malkar," he nearly whimpers, feeling his gut twist into knots.

Pascal's around. Pascal is always around when Felix gets in trouble, for some reason.

He's thankfully no longer a horse ! Ha ! And thankfully as well, he doesn't remember that at all.

He facepalms, thinking, what is it, this time?

But he's not going to let Felix down. "Cheri?"

Felix's knees nearly crumble. He keeps himself straight by a hand clutching the wall. But now he's staring at an empty room, taking quick little shuddery breaths.

Malkar. He forgot that there was something more terrifying than deep water or wolves.

Et merde. No reply - that's not good.

"Felix?" He's looking at him, at the place where he's staring, and eventually waves a hand in front of his eyes.

Faraday is standing in the room looking blankly at the handsome man before her, eyes wide and half terrified, frozen.

She doesn't even know if she wanted to see him, or if never did again. The man who loved, who betrayed her and let her die. She takes a shuddering breath and then crumples in a faint.

Well...

You know how things can be ironic? It's Cara who picks her up, transports her to a sofa, and fans her face, worriedly.

"Lady?"

This is the Edain girl who was going to the woods. And the same girl who spoke sense into him, a little. He likes her enough to be worried.

Faraday's eyelids flutter and she turns her head a little bit. "Axis?"

"No, no, it's Moryo, Caranthir...." he's not sure what to add... are they even friends?
