Sugar is crying helplessly, little Sophie on her lap. She just had some horrible, horrible realizations about herself, and she can't quite bring herself to realize it.

She's feeling god-awful.

"No, no, you need to know, I can't keep it to myself, Cal, it's not fair to you, it's not fair, no," she does go limp in the hug, though, against his neck, she murmurs, "I'm a monster because of the things that haunted my dreams before I knew you, and you cured me of them, you cured me of my book."

"Not fair to me? God, Sugar, you being with me isn't fair to you - it can't be that bad."

"Oh, Cal, never say that, you are a blessing - you've cured me of my hatred of men, of my anger..." she cries, still, and murmurs, "Do you know of Jack the Ripper?"

"God, yeah, of course, everyone does."

[crimson_sugar]

She sobs in his arms, and murmurs, "I used to write a book, and it was the sum of what I dreamt of doing to my patrons. Jack would have found it terrifying."

He shakes his head. "It's only a book."

"A book with dark, dark things in it," she replies, still crying. "And I might have dreamt of enacting them, had I had my chance for it..." But she's clinging, crying, and it's just one of those nonsensical tearful moments.

Sophie's edged and is kind of looking for comfort from Uncle Cal too - because Sugar crying disconcerts her, to say the least, and she's crying too, now.

Not his girls! He shifts to have one arm around Sugar and tugs Sophie into a hug. "It's okay, it's going to be okay," determinedly, "Everyone does that, you've had a rough life, it's okay."

"You are not horrified by any of it?" Sugar's sobbing is interrupted, and she stares at Cal with her red eyes, a bit surprised.

He just shakes his head. "God, no."

He's seen so much worse. And done worse.

"Oh, Cal...." That was the last rampart, the last wall around her heart crumbling, and heedless to a confused little Sophie who is cilning to Cal's other side, she kisses him, passionately.

Kissed, startled, and then he kisses her back. Because he's scared of this, and scared of what could happen, but there's...what else is he supposed to do?

Typist and puppet are unhelpfully clueless. So she'll be kissing him, and the kiss is probably tasting of salt, because of all that crying. Sophie is getting better, though - Cal and Sugar kissing means everything is alright.

Sugar will pull back from the kiss, eventually, and she'll just look at him, a moment, her lips opening to say something, before she stops herself and kisses him again.
