Gringoire, after a long sabbatical has returned to find an orb in the hallway adjacent to his room. 'Well, this is a fine trinket! Who left this behind, I wonder?' As he picks it up however, he suddenly sees clearly what his subconscious has known from the beginning. The guilty secret that he has never acknowledged, before now. His role in the death of Esmeralda. 'I could only have saved one...'he murmurs. 'I didn't know he couldn't be trusted. It wasn't my fault! He cries this out again, as he throws the orb away. 'It wasn't my fault!'

These lives and these years have not been full of the best choices by any stretch of the imagination for Zara.

No. No, they have not.

She leans against the nearest wall, one thin hand pressed over her eyes. So many mistakes, so much driving away of people she cared about, so much anger, so much (all that blood, all that blood, bayonets and curses) (sliding down the trunk of that tree with nothing left inside, no eyes, nothing) stupid stupid stupid.

Her cough turns ragged and harsher than usual.

Erhem. Not the best person for her to see right now, but, well...

Cyrano will stop, and go to her - he doesn't hate her at all, and he feels crappy about that last fiasco, so...

"Witch, are you in need of assistance?"

She doesn't look up. "No."

"Very well. Pardon my intrusion." He's ready to move along.

So all that peace about not having done the horrible things, or at least not as many? Gone.

Caranthir is sitting on the front lawn, BROODING in capital letters.

He killed his kin in the future - he slayed the Telerin at Losgar. He will participate in the battle of UnNumberred Tears. He died in Doriath, with his brothers.

And through it all, he had a ball, because he is a beast who strives on violence.

He's a monster, and just now, he knows it. Even in his dealings with the Naugrim, he was monstrous.

And he has no clue what to do about it.

...well, he needed that. A lot.

What with the already feeling guilty and all.

It looked like something someone might miss! So he just picked up and then ow almost worse than the getting hit in the head with brothers because HELLO GUILT NICE TO SEE YOU THERE.

Here, brother, have a Cleeg sitting somewhere face in his hands, tense and really wishing he hadn't picked the stupid thing up.

Might the typists suppose they are accidentally sitting next to one another and facepalming together?

After a moment, Cara is going to look to his brother, and just stare.

He has no clue what to say.

Sure!

He doesn't look up.

"Are you all right, Moryo?"

Sugar is crying helplessly, little Sophie on her lap. She just had some horrible, horrible realizations about herself, and she can't quite bring herself to realize it.

She's feeling god-awful.

Caliban comes wandering downstairs, hands in his pockets, and stops.

"Sugar - God, Sugar, what happened?" There in a minute, so worried.

Oh dear.

She just shrivels onto herself, crying more now that Cal is next to her, because telling him what she is, who she is, really, is so, so, so horrible.

The compulsion is there, powerful. She's resisting and it makes her shake.

He's going to tug her into a hug if she lets him, more worried. "Sugar, what's - what's the matter? God, what happened?"

Jaenelle picks it up carefully and cradles it in one hand.

The change is barely noticeable, except for her eyes, momentarily midnight, swirling, deep, starry. Then she sets the globe down and walks on, but there's a slight change to her face, a new edge, one of resignation. She knows what will come, at home, and what she will have to sacrifice.

She might come across an Anita, lying around and not touching anything - and very quietly thinking about things she's done and things she's going to do.

She doesn't need really the epiphany ball, these days.

Jaenelle looks quieter, older, as she sits down across from Anita.

"Good afternoon," quietly.

"Good afternoon, sistah," Anita replies, half-frowning. "You alright?"
