Lot jerks away from glaring at the house. "What?"

The kid's a relative for sure. But... did the boys get that big? When?

"I just thought-- I mean-- I could be wrong--" He's gone rather red.

"Names clear up a lot of confusion, kid," he says.

...What? You mean it might be helpful if he introduced himself? Why should he do that? He is Lot, people, get with the program!

"They are kind of the icing on the cake, aren't they?" Mordred says, because sarcasm with the newbies is reflexive, and only then registers just who is standing there.

Insert ellipsis here.

"Only if it's petrified icing in rosettes," Lot says, and tilts his head to see if that makes them any less appalling.

"--Sir?"

Possibly the only person in the multiverse who can, however briefly, reduce Mordred to an inarticulate ten-year-old!

A quick look of God, How Stupid Can You Be I’m Completely Clear (a look near identical in nuance to his daughter's equivalent look). "Petrified icing. In Rosettes. Only thing as bad as the architecture. - You a relative of Uther's?"

Oh God.

Gaheris, catching sight of him, twitches. Not just metaphorically, but a real, genuine, twitch. "Your pardon, my lord."

"Only beg it if you built it," Lot says, without bothering to glance at him, and heads further up the lawn.

"Nay," to his retreating back. And then he realises he has no clue what to do next.

But he's supposed to be going back to Morvydd anyway, so he follows at a distance, keeping his head down.

Telemakos is scampering up the steps of the Mansion with another rabbit--he does as much hunting as is conscionable--and neatly dodges out of Lot's way as he passes him: one-armed, brown as nuts, with a shock of salt-white hair, and of course the dead rabbit slung over his back. "It's ugly, isn't it?"

"As sin," Lot says bluntly.

And blinks. God, the kid could be a Neighbor, he looks very like one. "No offense meant to anyone stuck with it," he adds, out of the grudging caution Orkney will teach to even someone as stubborn as he is.

Griiiiiiin. "I'm not. I'm just waiting for my father."

"Ah. Good." And here we run into the problematic fact that Lot? Is basically not interested in anyone not him, his family, his enemies, or his subjects.

Ragnelle casts him an amused, dimpling glance. "Lacking, sir?"

"More like over stocked."

He nudges a particularly overabundant hydranga with his toe.

Eyebrooooooows at the intimate but hey, whatever. "Lot, King of Orkney and Lothian."

Sometimes, he leaves off Lothian because he loves Orkney better, but he remembers this time. "And you, lady?"
