He signs his name by 'cooks'--glancing up at Kay, with irony in his look. "Reporting for duty."

Dryly, he says "I trust you won't be heartbroken to find I'm not on the menu."

"Hardly."

He nods. "I'll have a schedule up soon."

[john_ofdarkness]

"Very efficient." Which, despite the dryness of his tone, is a real compliment.

"Nothing gets done, otherwise."

"I imagine it wouldn't. Too much infighting."

Typist: You, too!

"Well, typically the king...or a lord...selects a steward, but it's his authority that keeps it in line."

[john_ofdarkness]

"But in close associations of friends, living together? Hard to select an authority among them." He speaks from experience.

"Perhaps, I suppose. I've never lived in such a way."

"Camelot's not a silly place, I take it?" Not expecting Kay to get the reference, but smirking because he knows that it's a reference.

"Neither is any kind of place where men live with each other."

[unhappysteward]

"Ah. I suppose not." Kay suspects he's being made fun of but isn't certain.

More like being the object of sarcasm, but--! Basically the same thing. Blandly, "Especially with the affairs in Camelot--I imagine your job was all but impossible, duck--"

He shrugs. "Much like the palace in any large capitol city would be, I expect."
