Dr. Hoenikker, vaguely recognizing Ros but being much more interested in the concept of flying without a machine (something in his face lights up a bit at that; It's probably around his chin), says rather abruptly to Ros, "How much do you weigh?"

he looks puzzled at that, but he looks puzzled at most things. "weigh ... ?"

"Yes." Maybe another approach? "What is your mass? In pounds, preferably."

"i don't know -- i don't know if i've ever checked. i forget things about myself, sometimes. is it easy to find out?"

Hagbard grins. "Only if you let me try after you've done it!"

"of course! but i have to do it, first -- or else i won't have shown you how. i suppose i'm showing you how not to fly, just now, but that's not very useful, is it?"

"It would come in handy, knowing how not to fly, if you needed to stop flying. You are very good at not flying." He intended no insult, of course.

"i should hope so -- or else i might never come down, and where would i be, then? i mean. other than not-down, of course."

All this looks very interesting, and perhaps a little exciting to the little Prince. So he makes his way over to Rosencrantz and his kites, peering at all the different sizes and shapes.

"If you please, sir. These fly?"

it makes ros grin wide -- it always does, to see someone as interested in the silly things he makes as he is. "oh, yes -- ! not right now, of course -- except that one, it's got a little wind in its wings, hasn't it? -- but when they do fly, they fly --"

"How extraordinary!" he exclaims, happily. "I should very much like to see that, if I could."
