Oh dear.

She hadn't meant for anything to happen. It was an accident really...it was.
About twenty minutes ago Sally had entered what looked to be a greenhouse, it contained all manner of plants. Herbs, fruits, and flowers grew side by side tended to carefully by some mysterious caretaker. She decided it couldn't hurt to attempt to locate her family and so ( Read more... )

Gringoire is inside for once, making progress on his book, his one true love, when the contents of the pot come through an open window. Once he's caught whiff of them, he'll quite suddenly fall passionately in love with the first person he makes eye contact with.

Which will, because Gringoire's luck is like that, just happen to be Hellawes -- who despite all her sorcery is not immune to random magic.

"Sir!"

He looks up, and when he sees her, his brain ceases to function. Finally, he manages to stammer out, "You mean me, Mademoiselle?"

Well, he's new and hasn't been crackplotted yet, so really it's only fair.

He's been taking a great deal of advantage of the fact that food is in abundance here, and by the way no one has warned him off eating funny things lying about, but in any case he is eating theoretically safe kitchen food when the spell reaches him.

He frowns a teeny bit at the unfamiliar sensation, and then shrugs and goes back to foods.

Miranda, coming through the kitchen for something or other, stops short in the doorway at the sight of him and, for a very long moment, just stares.

Melou looks up and stares back. Oh, wow.

Blushing inexplicably, she smiles at him.

Locke has never been in love. Locke Lamora will never be in love. It's just not something that happens. The typist, however, has other ideas. Wandering outside and trying some new things with his wounded arm that cause quite a bit of swearing, he catches a whiff of a strange smell and sneezes abruptly. A bit of a pause as he looks around before sneezing again.

He turns around and wanders back inside, wondering if he's getting sick. That would really be a bummer.

Sally, having wandered back in to the mansion after the frightening experience in the greenhouse, is trying to calm herself down. She just happens to look up as Locke walks into the room. She doesn't know it but she too is under the effects of the rogue spell. She bites her lip, and gives him a shy look. "Hi."

Strolling through the grounds slowly and aimlessly, staring at the sky in what for anyone else would be considered a daze and contemplating the strange way light scatters around here, never considering that it could be due to the massive amounts of magic here because magic doesn't exist, Dr. Hoenikker is completely oblivious to the fact that he's been dusted with the ex-contents of the ex-flowerpot. He feels rather tingly, and next time he sees someone not because the typist is too lazy to pick someone, of course not he's sure to become suddenly oblivious to his one true love, science.

He still looks like he's only half here, though.

Alfred is wearing his stage clothes again, because he has gotten used to wearing them and they are heavy and warm in cold weather, and in them he looks an ideal woman inasmuch as the ideal woman is meant to be looked at -- the magic helps, of course, and the strange light that scatters over him, as he walks the grounds. For some reason he stops -- a convention, perhaps, the way love-at-first-sight is played -- and blushes at the older man, trying not to stare. See, now, we've picked someone for you, and it'sa trap.

And--because this is magic, we cannot emphasize this enough, it is an infringement upon his free will, really--Felix, upon catching the boy's eye, is himself caught. He freezes--mostly--and gapes. Perhaps there is something to be said for the fact that he can't quite tell that Alfred is not really a young woman, but more likely there isn't. He blushes, a sensation that he hasn't felt in his face since shortly after he married his late wife. Unfortunately, he is just as oblivious to society as ever. He attempts a little wave. and whadda trap!
