Gringoire is inside for once, making progress on his book, his one true love, when the contents of the pot come through an open window. Once he's caught whiff of them, he'll quite suddenly fall passionately in love with the first person he makes eye contact with.

At this point, she could say that she was a servant of the Devil, and Gringoire would just smile and nod. "Hellawes," he murmurs, savoring at how her name sounds. "I'm Pierre Gringoire."
