[Miranda is reading, mouthing the words softly under her breath, as is her habit. Since she was never aware of speaking anything else, she does not notice when she shifts to Italian in the middle of a sentence.]

She smiles. "I am then glad we may now plainly speak."

"It is so good to hear it. It hath been so long!"

[topofadmiration]

She smiles. "Yet 'tis different from the way my father spoke it."

[fair_hero]

"How ist?"

[topofadmiration]

"'tis-- I know not." She laughs. "But how fare you, friend?"

[fair_hero]

"O, I am well!" She touches her womb shyly. "Look thou, there is a child here."

[topofadmiration]

Her eyes widen. "Ay, truly?" she asks, wonderingly. She reaches out, but does not quite touch.

[fair_hero]

"A very little one, I know not how long it hath been there." Hero is ignorant of these things.

[topofadmiration]

As is Miranda. "Yet 'tis a great blessing to thee!"

[fair_hero]

"Ay! I am so glad, I know not--"

[topofadmiration]

"Ay?" she laughs.

[fair_hero]

"I pray my lord will be so pleased," more confidingly.

[topofadmiration]

"O! He shall be!"

[fair_hero]

"An 'tis a boy, surely. Yet what an 'tis a little girl?"

"Did not thy father delight in thee, and mine in me?"
