Not enough people want to play. So instead, me'n Krum'll each take a team of four players -- that's four including us -- and do a pickup game. Two Chasers ( Read more... )

Well, now that there's that comment about the one-on-ones, how can she not say something? She's blushing up a storm, but smiles anyway. "I'm still signed up to cheer you lot on, yeah?"

He smiled in return, "You will not play with us, then?"

She laughs. "Viktor, you've seen what I'm like. I'm awful."

"You are not awful, don't say such things." He grinned wider and kissed her cheek, "I will work with you more, you'll be fine. You'll see."

Laughing, Tonks says enthusiastically "I'm still up for a game, if you need a Chaser!"

"Is there room for me?" Dolohov smiled charmingly at them. "I was a Beater last I played, but I'm very - flexible."

Oliver smiled in return, "I bet you'd be a mean Keeper, then. Whose team do you want to be on?"

"It's a most difficult choice, but I believe we fellow Eastern Europeans should stick together," Dolohov answered, nodded at Krum.

"What game is this?" Gareth, naturally, has never played Quidditch, but he looks quite genuinely curious.

Oliver nearly gasped, "Never heard of Quidditch? Well -- I suppose not everyone has, being from different places and all that. Alright, sit down, I'll tell you all about it." Oliver patted Gareth on the shoulder, gearing up for a big speech. "Now -- you've got six players per team, all on flying brooms. Two Chasers, one Keeper -- that's me, two Beaters, and one Seeker. The Chasers take the Quaffle -- which is a bit like a football -- and toss it around, try to get it through the hoops. The Keeper," he gestured to himself, "Tries to keep the Chasers from making a goal. If they make a goal, it's ten points. There are two bludgers -- sort of like a cannonball, but enchanted to fly about the pitch -- fly around to knock people off their brooms. The Beaters have these bats to know the bludgers away from their players and towards the other team. Then there's the Snitch. It's this little golden ball with wings that's fast as anything, damned hard to see, and harder to catch. The Seeker's job is to catch the Snitch. The game only ends when ( ... )

"I think so," he says slowly. "So it's-- it's all magic?"

"Yes! All magic. Oh -- bugger." Oliver bit at his lip, thinking. "Not sure if you can play without being a wizard. I suppose we could enchant a broom to fly for you -- or have a wizard on the ground controling it. That could get tricky, though. Unless you are a Wizard, then nevermind all that."
