And always, not so very far away, there is a Lancelot. He's meandering about the forest somewhere, perhaps enjoying the fine summer weather, and hears her song. So he smiles and bows.

"My lady."

"Oh!"

The voice is too familiar, too dear, and perhaps she had gone to the gardens for a tryst to begin with--she turns in a whirl and holds her arms out, letting her flowers spill. "Lancelot!"

He rises and walks towards her quickly, folding her in a tight embrace. "My Gwen."

Only too happy to return it, she puts her head on his shoulder and smiles. "Dear Lancelot."

"...your majesty." That's all he says, but his face, after coming upon the queen unexpectedly in the garden (and what is Agravain doing in a garden? Using it as a shortcut to the stable, of course), says much more, none of it very flattering.

Startled, Guinever backs away, and then recovers herself and stands more regally. "Sir Agravain."

In unconscious response to her own majestification, he pulls himself up straight, stops slouching, and says shortly, "I beg your pardon, I was not aware of your majesty's presence." -and backs up to leave.

Coldly, for she assumes she is still at home and wants him to go as soon as possible so he won't run across Lancelot coming to meet her here, "You are pardoned. Good day."

"Your Majesty!" He offers at once a deep, eager bow.

Why is this spot so popular? She starts to blush, and then quickly smiles instead, and offers him her hand. "Sir Gareth."

Because wherever you want him not to be, Gareth will be, since he fails utterly at taking hints! The hand he does take, though, and bows over it.

The Professor, out for an exploratory walk, is drawn (understandably) to her voice and stops short at the garden. "Good morning," he says pleasantly.

She turns around to him, graceful in her motions. "Good morrow."

"I'm Professor Kirke." He extends a hand.

"A scholar? Welcome to my husband's court, sir." She hesitates over the hand, unsure of the proper response (and doesn't introduce herself because she assumes he knows who she is. who doesn't?).

"Good morrow, sir," she says, half-Queen and half-girl.
