Soak up the sun

May 30, 2007 22:13

It's a warm day and Nancy is bored. The mansion seems to be currently lacking mysteries, adventures, and (most importantly) blue roadsters. There was only so long she could spend in the library, trying to research so she has moved outside. Currently, Miss Drew is lounging on a towel near the lake wearing a fashionable 1930s swimsuit that will no ( Read more... )

Cassandra is wandering quietly over the lawn when she notes the girl on the sand and walks over to sit down next to her, curiously. She's normally friendly and curious, just not with males. She peers at the cast aside book and asks in her quiet voice, "What are you reading?"

"Mythology. It's rather dull, too."

Cassandra blinks. "Mythology? What type of mythology?" She's heard the word before, in reference to stories, like that of Ariadne the Web Spinner and Athena, or the Minotaur, but mostly used by skeptics who don't believe that gods exist.

"Greek. I think there's a bit of the Roman stuff in here too, but it's all Greek with different names."

Here's a Karla, perched in a tree (inspired by a certain Shakespearian) and looking down at Nancy. "Kiss kiss," she says sweetly, sending a shower of leaves drifting in her general direction. "Are you basking because you're a reptile, or because you enjoy having your skin fried to a crisp?"

Karla tilts her head to the side and peers at Nancy out of ice-blue eyes. "Tanning? What's that? Sounds like the same thing to me."

Armand is taking a walk with baby Etienne, to give Chris a break (and maybe a chance to plan some birthday secrets). He's singing to the baby as they approach the lake, then he stops when he sees Nancy. He shifts the baby to one arm, and waves.

"Bonjour, Mlle. Drew." He looks at either her toes or her face. "Shouldn't you be wearing more clothes than that in public?"

She waves at him. "No. I don't see any reason to."

He shakes his head. "You modern people are so strange."

"I'm just tanning. I may even go for a dip later." She pauses. "Well, what did they wear in your time to do this?"

Sadik has the boots she took off somewhere further up the path dangling from her hand by the laces, and she's studying the lake with a thoughtful expression.

"Do you think it's a reservoir?" she asks Nancy, "I don't think it's a reservoir."

"I think it's a lake, but I'm not certain that it's used as a reservoir."

Sadik tilts her head. "Where I'm from it would be a reservoir, but we haven't as much water as here."

She considers the lake for another moment, then sets the boots down on the bank and bends down to roll up the cuffs on the loose trousers she's wearing. "I think it isn't a reservoir," she says decisively, "I think in a place with so much water it would make sense to put a sign saying it is a reservoir, and there is no sign - I looked. So it won't do any harm if I go in."

"Well, how do you like that." George grinned, flopping down next to her. "Nancy goes sunbathing and I didn't even get an invitation."

"I seem to have misplaced my stationary set. Forgive me for not writing an invitation." She giggles a little.

"Oh, now we're reduced to correspondence?" George pinched her, grinning. "You could've come found me."

Nancy slapped away the pinching hand. "It was kind of a spur of the moment affair."
