Draco frowns and he apparently knows a little French so he answers with that. "Are you lost?"

"Muggles usually don't."

"What is a...muggle?"

[dracoslytherin]

"A human with no magical abilities," he explains. Any old malice about that is not currently present in his voice. He doesn't have problems with such things as he used to. "If you know some charms and spells and defences against dark creatures then you can't be a Muggle."

"But everyone must know such things. How could one live without them? Someone who did not know would have been swept away by darkness."

"That's one way of putting it... Why did you say I was good? Can you sense something?"

[border_princess]

She considers him critically. "Well, if you were evil you would have reacted when I said the charm, Pan. And you do not look like a vampire or a werewolf. You seem like a good man."

"I'm a wizard and I'm human, yes... And my name is Draco Malfoy," he adds. "Not Pan...."

"Pan is polite. It is like saying sir." She smiles. "My name is Vasil." Actually that is her father's name, but she has decided to use it as a boy.

"How old are you?"

"Seventeen." She is actually nineteen, but figures she must look like a younger boy.

"Hm," he looks at her searchingly, still thinking something wasn't quite right.

"Is something the matter?"

[dracoslytherin]

"There's something you're not telling me. Something important," he states, continuing to study her.

[border_princess]

Oh dear. Time for a half truth. Helen lowers her voice and looks around. "I'm actually not a peasant."

"Hm. You did seem to be speaking rather too well for a commoner - is there something else?" He's still looking at her intently. If he tries hard enough he can see into her thoughts, but he's trying not to be so interfering yet.
