An expidition of sorts

Feb 13, 2007 16:22

Tom had woken from his slumber and try as he might he could not return to it.  His stomach growled at him most incessantly so he set off in search of food.  This place has to have a kitchen somewhere.  He was also casually looking for exits.  As he wandered about he compiled a mental list of things he would rather be doing.  1. Alcuin has become something of a professional at feeding people, so he will simply wander by with a tray of iced gingerbread, little sandwiches, and a pot each of tea and coffee, heading for the main room.

Tom perked up a little. "My Sophia studied in France for a while learning to be a lady of fashion and fortune. She said it was lovely."

Tom heaved an overly-melodramatic sigh. "Yes. She is the daughter of my benefactor's neighbor who would never permit her to marry a base born bastard. We must never see each other again."

Poor Tom has a medieval knight's view of love. Pining away with chivalry while his lady stands gathering dust on a far away pedestal. However that has never stopped him from having as much fun as possible in the interim.

"I was driven from the house of my childhood not too long ago to make my own fortune. Miss Western is a lady of the highest quality and deserves a husband who support her well. I cannot at the present time but I determined to raise up enough money to do so. You could scarcely expect her to go running off and get married to a foundling with almost nothing. Her father would also likely hunt me down and kill me."

Tom smiled again. "But it will all work out amazingly well in the end! It always does for me. I don't know why."
