one Christmas in Camelot King Arthur sat...

It's Christmas, and so it's only natural that there's a Christmas feast laid out. Arthur has seen to this. There's enough for everyone to eat well: a meal truly fit for a king-- several kinds of fowl, hams, vegetable dishes, casseroles, sides, and an entire table of desserts. Bottles of wine, champagne, mead, and beer sit unopened and waiting, ( Read more... )

the holidays are so nice -- so many people giving each other things, and rosencrantz is nothing if not a great fan of things, of things that spin and shine in candlelight like the old bits of wrapping paper they came in -- and though ros may not know or remember this particular king (he already has a favorite) he won't mind stopping by to watch things be exchanged, or for, that matter, to snatch a few appetizers for himself ... a glass of wine, for no reason but to wet his finger and run it around the rim, making the crystal hum aloud ...

Arthur watches for a few moments, and probably only that long for the sense of sheer wonder that one gets from Rosencrantz. "What music, friend, and that your only instrument."

Tesla stands at a distance watching. It would be rude to sit down without being invited.

"Sit, sit," calls Arthur, his eyes sparkling no less than they did in his youth. "Sit and serve yourself, and eat your fill. I demand it."

Shinou looks around with interest. He's not certain of either the holiday or of what he should do here but he sees Arthur and gives him a friendly smile and nod in greeting.

The greeting is returned, all courtesy and goodwill echoed. "King Shinou." He can sense the uncertainty, perhaps, and so laughs. "Have you no Christmas? There are far lands that do not, and there is some question in your eyes."

"No. Not in my day. What is it celebrating?"

"The birth of our Saviour," he answers warmly. "For us, it is a time of great joy."

Fëanor doesn't celebrate Christmas, but he figures that as he's allies or even friends with Arthur, it's appropriate to attend a feast given by him. So here he is, all robed in his finery, looking reasonably friendly (though tired). He doesn't grab a gift right away, though.

Arthur views Fëanor as both a friend and an ally; he'll be greatly pleased and honoured to see the elvish king in attendance.

"High King," says he, friendly, bowing most respectfully. "You are most welcome here: Please, eat, drink-- 'tis the season for merriment in my country, and merriment I wish to share."

"High King," Fëanor returns amusedly, with a friendly nod. "Thank you. I am most delighted to take part in your merriments, then."

"I am pleased, most pleased-- and will you accept a gift, as is the custom?"

Luneta looks around with delight, and curtsies to him, laughs, and then gives him a quick hug. He hasn't come by to get his present yet, so she has it with her to give.

The embrace in return is not quite 'quick'-- 'bear hug' is probably more accurate, though he's careful not to damage anything that she might be holding.

"Welcome, child," he says, his smile huge, while letting a hand rest fatherly on her shoulder. "What think you of the festivities?" He motions to all who have already gathered, and to the elaborate arrangements of food and drink. "A very merry Christmastide."

"It's beautiful. Everybody looks so happy." She smiles up at him. "I made you a present, sir."

"Did you?" he murmurs, awed, as though no one had ever made him a present before. "I am honoured. May I see?"
