Count Chocula and FrankenBerry are not as good as I remember them being. Somehow, they are not as sweet or flavorful as I always think they will be. I guess maybe when I had them as a kid they were full of MSG or something, but now that I'm an adult shouldn't sugary kids cereals taste even sweeter to my refined palate?

Or as you get older your tastebuds die, hence why old folks go for spicy food. No idea if this is true.

I've heard (experienced, natch) that as well. The same reportedly holds true for smokers.

I think it's both. I know that over the years they will tweak recipes, but I also know that part of it is aging.

When I was a kid, I ate cake for the frosting.
Now I scrape off 90% of the icing!

Maybe I need to do what I used to do as a kid, and eat all the cereal bits first, saving the marshmallows for last.
