Ten, Nine, Eight, and I'm Breaking Away.

Until this week, I didn't really comprehend how much of 2005 I spent living in various MMOs. These past few days have alternately crawled and flown by, with no real warning when the passage of time will change. When I'm awake, everything moves at a snail's pace. I'm a paperback fan -- unless it's a library book, then it has to be hardbacked because paperback library books just feel dirty. Part of it's the portability (I can't imagine not being able to read on the bus; I don't want to have to talk to/look at/deal with my fellow commuters), but there's also this crazy idea I have about the maleability of the paperback; that I can mold it, somehow.

There's no way I can really explain that without sounding diagnostic.

Plus: hardbacks are spendy. And as Zach and I can attest to: heavy. You love your hardbacks now; but will you love 25 boxes of them, all weighing in at eleventy million pounds?

I didn't think so.

Good point about the weight. And since I sincerely doubt that I'll be living in this apartment for the rest of my life, it's something I should really consider.

Larger paperbacks aren't a problem, really, but the dime store/harlequin romance-style ones (not that I read either kind of book) just bug for some reason. So I guess that's my version of compromise.

And unfortunately for me, reading anything beyond road signs and billboards while riding in a vehicle brings on intense and unpleasant nausesa almost immediately. I take dramamine when I fly, but it seems impractical for bus and car rides. Which makes me glad I enjoy listening to music so much.
