welllll, I finished my poetry MFA almost 20 years ago (!!!) but there is a certain culture to poetry mfa workshops ... it's as though the work of professionalization for a poet is an attempt to work out, through consensus, what today's current poetry looks like, the language of it, the subject matter of it

it's as though the work of professionalization for a poet is an attempt to work out, through consensus, what today's current poetry looks like, the language of it, the subject matter of it.Ah, I couldn't have put that so succinctly. It's a different approach than the one I've been taking on my own, and in fandom. I think it's that I'm writing here to a specific audience that knows more where I'm coming from, while workshops at school kind of don't. I'm very geared to writing for a specifically known audience, to move or entertain, rather than "for the ages" or aligning my work with any particular movement or consensus. It's just more satisfying

Legend of the Seeker continues to thrill me! I'm midway through S2 and hoping there's a miracle and it gets picked up for a third season by one network or other. Seriously, there is so much PRETTY on this show, and quite good acting too. A lot to like.
