Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in.

So, I've been wanting to do an essay for Kakashi and Sasuke a long time, since it's my second favourite ship (after NaruSakuSasu) and I write it a lot.  I've heard those who like KakaSasu accused of ( Read more... )

Mmn NejiSasu.

Kakashi, seeing Gaara's affect on Sasuke, decides to step in a put a stop to his taunting. Interestingly enough, Kakashi's "don't talk like you know Sasuke's inner self" shares some of the same possesiveness as Naruto's "don't talk about Sasuke as if he's yours" speech to Orochimaru.
I never noticed that, but that's a good point. It could even add up to Kakashi's need to save Sasuke from himself.

What I really like about their relationship is that it somehow works. They go from parent/child, to pretending to be equal to ust to mentor/student smoothly. They don't know how to relate to each other, and Kakashi really doesn't know how to really deal with all he's feeling in some moments while Sasuke uses him as a balance for all he's feeling with Sakura and Naruto.

I can talk about these guys for ages.

I WANT THEM TO MEET UP AGAIN KISHIMOTO. NOW.

It is pretty and will never ever happen.

I think the get really close to a parent/child relationship but both seem to shy away from it, which complicates things and also serves for some form of unresolved sexual tension. Sasuke is still afraid to reach out for a new family to replace his old one, because of Itachi, and Kakashi gives equal status too many times to Sasuke for it to be a pure father/son relationship.

But their relationship could never be one of equal lovers either, because Kakashi takes control too easily, and Sasuke gives it up to him without protest for the most part.

IN FANDOM IT DOES. but Neji wants Naruto to molest Sasuke, like everyone else Naruto punches.Yeah. I think that Kishimoto wants to imply the father/son part, and data books say he thinks of Kakahsi as like a father... But they really don't interact that way. And Kakashi can be somewhat fatherly, with his interactions with Naruto and Sakura. But not so much with Sasuke. They don't relate as one thing, making sexual tension easy to see ( ... )

Very well argued. I don't think I see the sexual element to their relationship, but it is still deep and complex. I also feel more sympathy toward Kakashi now than I did before. Good job.

That's because there really isn't a sexual element to their relationship right now. Because Kakashi's not that much of a pervert and has to be prodded by Sasuke's need to reveal that much of himself to him in any case.

There's UST in some of the scenes where Kakashi dominates Sasuke and Sasuke allows it, but that's about it. Adding sex would probably complicate their relationship so much that they would both be adverse to it, though I think Sasuke might initiate such a relationship if he thought it was what Kakashi wanted, and if he felt like he needed to be closer in that way. Which is why I write KakaSasu in the first place. I like adding complications to already fucked-up situations and seeing what happens.

I saw the link to this essay through the team 7 FC. It was a really enjoyable read and there are many things about Kakashi and Sasuke's relationship that I didn't notice at first (such as Sasuke being the only one to understand Kakashi's concern during the Wave Country Arc). I'm putting this on memories. XD

Since you said NaruSakuSasu is your favorite ship, are you going to write an essay for them too?

I might but it probably won't be as big as this or my SasuSaku defense. There are a lot of excellent NaruSakuSasu manifestos around and I don't feel the need to essay about them as much, as I probably wouldn't be able to top them.
