what is all this madness and how did it happen in 18 hours

I have been up for nearly twenty-four hours at this point. I am working on my nth+1 wind. I don't know when I'll crash but I know that it'll come with a real big thud and I'll come round several hours later wondering where go them bus what hit me, so I might as well write a whole buncha stuff down now as the sun comes up ( Read more... )

If I hear of either housing or work, I will let you know.

I hear your comments about getting old. I feel the stretch in my hip when I go down stairs. Yup, still working for now but for how much longer? Hopefully things turn a corner soon.

I am glad you were able to escape for a night. May things improve tremendously on all fronts.

I can keep an eye out for housing. What is the budget and location radius?

2BR, Camberville/Medford, $1800-$2000/mo, hardwood floors (no wall-to-wall carpeting), 2 cat friendly, washer/dryer or hookups in unit/building. Not being in a public transportation wasteland is also a plus. We have to be out by Sep 30, so we can do Sep 15 or Oct 1 for move-in.

The film was in French with English subtitles and I caught myself thinking in French for a little bit of it, what little French as I have retained, and I was charmed again by the wonderous way French cities were lit at night back in the 60s and 70s, with that special greenish light that we just don't get with our orange sodium lamps or bright white whatever-those-new-ones-are.

I like the way you talk about film even when you're tired. You should do it more often.

Georgette Baxter was really something.

"Is this a montage?" I asked. "I think we're in a montage."

I've recently been watching Youtube videos of excerpts from Global TV's legendary late-night 1980s filler shows "Night Walk," "Night Drive," and "Night Moves." These consisted of someone wandering downtown Toronto at night with a steadycam; the footage then dubbed with smooth jazz. The result is sort of like a film noir in which nothing actually happens, and the protagonist just wanders endlessly through a hypnotic montage of neon signs.
