VM 3.04: Depudor gets her hate on

Oct 26, 2006 03:29

I’ve had a lot of trouble articulating how I feel about this season so far, so I’ve been reluctant to write up my thoughts, except when I’m promoting Lamb for Mayor. But this episode bothered me so much, I had to write it all down.

What bugs me is that it had the potential to be really good, but the writers are just lazy. They wasted a good idea.  ( Read more... )

Yes! That comment by Keith was so disturbing. I'm just surprised that the network lets them get away with all this sexism.

Agreed.

She tells Logan about this, and Logan immediately contacts Charlie and then, by virtue of the fact that they both surf, immediately starts telling him all of his deep, dark secrets. I wondered about this, too. I mean, I understand that Logan is oh so desperate for a family, but I don't know, I recall him being a little more cautious and wary about who he lets in. It's hard for me to imagine Logan being so careless and, well, stupid ( ... )

Yes, especially since Logan already has a sibling and knows how insensitive and obnoxious they can be. He wouldn't automatically see a brother as an ally.

And you're right -- this isn't a rape storyline. Hunting a rapist, especially one who leaves a mark behind on his victims, would involve coming up with a profile and things like that. Instead we get a badly-drawn picture of campus politics, which will probably have nothing to do with the rapist. Last year we got all this stuff about a class war in Neptune, but it all had nothing to do with the bus crash, which turned out to be about sexual abuse.

but it just felt to me like Logan was the third wheel on Keith and Veronica’s date.
HAHA. Oh man, I gotta forget I read that.

And I am really sick of this show being used for TV reunions.
ME TOO. This show shouldn't be an employment bank for old friends.

Like everyone else, I enjoyed the surface elements, mostly. You bring up some excellent points that help nail down what was off about the episode. The Charlie storyline didn't happen as I expected, besides having a good idea that Matt/Logan/Norman was a fake. But when I came into the episode halfway through, Logan was JUST learning about Charlie's existence. HUH? It goes from discussing Charlie's attractive mom and surfing to actually surfing and discussing abuse by pears. Reeeediculous.

Thanks for writing this up. It's nice to see a thoughtful analysis, which I didn't find down..y (down-ish? okay, negative) at all.

Yeah, I was wondering about that, like if they were holding off on the reveal to keep the GG viewers tuned in. But then the rest of it happened too quickly.

And I'm glad you didn't think this was too negative. I had some positive thoughts on the ep as well, but they were overwhelmed by the nitpicks.

I think I'll forever have an unhealthy attachment (*cough*UNDERSTATEMENT*cough*) to the Logan/Veronica relationship

At least it's not an ugly attachment, like the giant back hose on the Xterra. ;P

I understand, though. It's why I'm still watching. A world without Logan is like... *brain implodes*

I agree, but you probably knew that. And I have used all my intelligent thoughts up elsewhere today. So yay to your words! And you are right! I am attempting to look at this new season with new eyes and as a new VM-lite show and then it's not that bad. I knew you would like Matt C though and thought of you when he was on. Yay Matt!

I am honestly feeling quite dumb right now, so that's it.

You're probably just mesmerized by all the snow. Or overwhelmed by baseball. Or something else having to do with white objects that can fall on your head.
