Political activism, music, and stuff

Political activism time now, y/y?

What is ACTA and why it's bad.
Where can you sign against it.
And a protest plan for hardcore masochists - Black March 2012, a month without downloading or buying any CDs, DVDs or books whatsoever.

I'm actually considering participation in the latter, which won't be as hard because I can go without buying books or ( Read more... )

I don't think downloading anime really counts, since it's not just an alternative for buying the anime for us (at least I almost never buy anime and I don't think you do either? xD) But downloading a CD you could just buy from a shop in your hometown (or somewhere like that anyway) is an alternative ;D I think I'll participate too..

I like the German song but the video made me laugh!! Is it a parody? XD

Oh and also, it's not like you could buy the newest Gintama episodes anywhere yet anyway haha.

Good point... It's not like we can buy new anime that is still ongoing.

Well, I have bought Summer Wars and TTGL on DVD, but apart from that no XD Good point, anime actually doesn't count, since we would not paying for it anyway. In that case, it's completely doable because anime is pretty much the only thing I download.

Nope, I think they are serious >_< It really made me lol, the song would have been halfway decent otherwise, but the video is just so embarrassing XDD

The video could have fallen into the so bad it's good category if it was just a little more cheesy. And yeah, I don't see the point of a photoshoot for a job myself.

Lol, that video even fails at being bad XD

Well, luckily they didn't make individual photos, just the team photos, so that went ok :D

Some companies like to advertise using pictures of their employees. My mum's bank does that for example.

The black march thing would be very easy for me. I'm perpetually broke and at the same have a ton of stuff to read/watch that's been waiting ages for me to have the time to do it. I really don't need to be buying anything new atm xD

Someone suggested that march would be a good time to support independent creators. One could for example commission their favourite artist to do a piece of work, etc.

I suppose in a way it makes sense, customers like to know who they are dealing with. And, since individual photos of me were not made, it was all good.

Haha, pretty much the same with me - but I still need to download the ongoing anime episodes XD

That's a good idea, I suppose. Although that can't replace downloads...

You're rockin' an awesome icon of the Red Hood there.

Thank you :) I actually made it myself because there's definitely not enough icons of him out there.

When I began to watch the video for "Reich Mir Die Hand," I thought, "Hmm, I hope this video will turn into an interesting homage to the 1992 vampire movie Bram Stoker's Dracula with Gary Oldman." Well, my hope for this video was defeated as you clearly warned me ahead of time that the video is less than awesome because of the excess amount of black lacy underwear and the lead singer's failure to seduce the camera. But that Basteroid song was relaxing though.

Haha, nope, they would not do anything that sophisticated XDD I have nothing against black lacy underthings in principle, but in this case, it would have better if the guy wore them - at least that would be interesting to look at XDD

I'm glad you liked it :)

I approve of any music video featuring men wearing black lacy underthings. Actually, I approve of any dudes wearing clothes that are traditionally feminine like IAMX did for the music video "My Secret Friend".

Idk, crossdressing is not my kink, but I guess whatever suits you (and them XD)

That second song - not my usual cup of tea, but interesting :)

The video had me in splits within the first 25 seconds xD The whole thing is wretched. 99% hilarious and 1% gross xD It reminds me of the vids of some pretty good metal bands that have dreadful taste in visuals and a low budget.

That just goes to show - real art has universal appeal, even if it is not the thing you usually listen to :)

Lol, I know, right! XD It was really gross when there were all those rivers of fake blood, so lame XDD A bad video can really spoil a good song. I think one doesn't need a huge budget to make a half-decent video, but good taste is necessary.

Of course you don't need a very high budget but you need to consider what you can and can't pull of with the one you have :)

Some bands insist on having special effects they don't have the money to do well, instead of just doing some less complicated, but aesthetic shots without them.

I personally would not mind a video with just the band standing still and playing the damn song without trying to make it artistic and failing at it XD

Of course, at least somebody of the bandmembers has to look good, to make it worth looking at them XD
