D-Day tomorrow...

Nov 07, 2016 18:35

So it's the big day tomorrow, Election Day. I feel for my Americans friends, I really do. As a non-American I'm sick to death of hearing about it, an entire ocean away, so I can only imagine how much worse it must be to be immersed in it, and with so much more of an emotional connection and stake in the whole process ( Read more... )

Hell no, don't come here! We're the blithering idiots who just voted for Brexit, remember, in one of the more spectacular examples of a country committing economic suicide in support of a xenophobic agenda. Go to Canada or New Zealand. I'll probably be not long far behind you...

Headed pretty right-wing too these days, or at least the government is. Stick to Canada or New Zealand. Or one of the Scandinavian countries!

I really can't wait to just go vote tomorrow and for this stupid election to be over. I'm so tired of it.

It just feels endless. At least with our elections it tends to be held within months of being called, we don't get this endless 18-month cycle of primaries and conventions and campaigning...

I hate it all. I will vote tomorrow, go to work, then go home and avoid all media until Wednesday. Then I will welcome the inevitabe shitstorm to come.

Despite Brexit, I would still love to move to England.

I'm desperately hoping Brexit doesn't happen. I hate the way this country feels since the vote.

Thanks. This is probably the first election of my life where I've felt genuinely terrified of the result. I'm going to be hiding (since I've already voted) until it's over.

I'm torn between staying up all night tonight to see the results come in, or trying to sleep and waking up to it. I suspect I wouldn't sleep much anyway, I'd be checking my phone every few minutes. When Obama won in '08 I was up all night watching the results. I'm never this involved in our elections!

Yep, I have been living in a state of constant anxiety for over a week now. It's funny to think of how much less stressful previous elections were, in retrospect. Thanks for the good wishes!

At least this psychic Scottish goat the predicted Brexit has predicted a Hillary win (and is clearly superior to the psychic Chinese monkey), so there is that! ;)

But seriously, I have been obsessively following the news and FiveThirtyEight, and look forward to hopefully getting some free time back after tomorrow.

This election has been so disgusting, so dirty and vindictive and full of hate thanks to Trump. I just hope tomorrow America wakes up from this insanity and realises what a lucky escape you just had and to seriously not go down that road again in four years...
