I need closer friends...

One of the things I miss most about university life (and damn, that's receding further every year) is just...hanging out. You know? Just spending a day chilling, vegging on the sofa, watching movies, talking. I miss that ( Read more... )

Aw. Honestly, I know the feeling. I'm drifting from one close friend, another one just has the opposite work hours as me, plus she's in a complicated life situation now, so just hanging out isn't as simple. I have casual friends, but like you, not really any close ones nearby. And I miss that. Although I'm honestly starting to think for adults at least, that's not so uncommon. Not that it doesn't suck, but for exactly the reasons you state, making friends as an adult is very tricky.

I know what you mean :( Since I've reached my 30's especially I feel like the odd one out at times,it feels like everyone else my age has partners and children now and of course that family commitment comes first, so it's not as simple to just spend a day hanging out with close friends

I was just talking about that with a friend the other day. It was so easy to just be like "want to watch a movie?" Hell, I could change my AIM status to "come over and watch a movie later" and someone would come hang out! It's so hard to be that laid back now.

Oh, wow, I thought it was just me, or this city I've moved to. Here, its hard to find a friend who wants to do something more meaningful than going to dinner or a bar. Which, to me, is not quality time together. As you say, I'd much rather hang out at their house watching tv, where we can be relaxed and talk freely. But I have social anxiety, so I assumed my pov was biased. It doesnt help that cities are bigger, and now it could take an hour to get to a friends house. Who wants to do that after work when youre tired?

Though, funny enough, I am going to go spend time with my best friend today, but it is a set, standing visit that cant last longer than two hours, lol.

Yeah, I know that feeling It's the disadvantage of being an adult really! (or one of them) All that organising needed. I'm lucky that I have a few friends who live fairly close and friends that enjoy chilling too so we sometimes can justify meeting to watch TV and films together but it's still rare and makes me sad sometimes.
