Public holidays are good for many things...

Sure, you could celebrate this Easter with, I don't know, zombie Jesus or the Easter Bunny or worship at the altar of chocolate - I get the symbolism a little confused. Really, isn't modern western religion really just one big mash-up by this point anyway ( Read more... )

I really want to get into Black Sails, but I've only seen the first episode. Love it?

Love it? In raptures over it! It's AMAZING. It takes a bit of a while to get going, but when it does.. Part of the reason I have a few episodes to watch is because I don't want it to be over just yet.

This post does a good job of explaining why you should watch it. 'Cause, I don't know, if canon bisexual pirates, bitch-ass awesome women, smoking hot men, pirate politics, tragic love stories, amazingly intricately-written plotlines, twists you do not see coming aren't enough...

THAT DOES SOUND AMAZING. Starz is seriously one of the best networks. Spartacus, Outlander, The Pillars of the Earth and so many others. It's like HBO without the awful added in rape scenes and far more pro-women moments.

It's a bit skeevy in the early episodes, with rape and violence - but then, pirates, you know? Once you get past the halfway point of S1 the job just hits a whole new level, and S2 has been amazing so far. All the characters are so well-rounded and believable, it's hard to say they're likeable (again - pirates!) but you can't stop watching.

It's...eh, it's okay, I guess. I'm a little bored with it now, I must confess. I enjoy Jeremy Piven as Selfridge, but I think the show suffers from too many characters, most of whom I couldn't give a stuff about. And I think it missed a trick skipping over WW1 too quickly. But it's entertaining enough. I love the costumes and the look more than anything!

I'm so annoyed I haven't been able to see any "Dig" yet, given my vocation! What do you think of it so far?

I'm enjoying it so far - although I mainly got into it for Jason Isaacs. I'll watch that man in anything.

But it's really quite intriguing, I'm very curious about where it's all going. And the fact that it's filmed in Jerusalem really shows, the city is practically a character in its own right, and it's just stunning. Although I think later eps weren't filmed there, I think they had to shift filming because of the conflict last year.
