What counts as 'older'? Older than me? Forty and above? 'Older' depends on your own viewpoint!
But I'm going to go with Kathryn Janeway. Kate Mulgrew was, what, forty when she started playing Janeway? So she counts.
Ahh, Kathryn Janeway. I have a complicated relationship with Voyager. It was my entry into Star Trek - although I'd seen episodes here and there beforehand, it was Voyager that got me hooked as a Trekkie. More specifically, if I'm honest, it was Janeway and Chakotay that got me hooked. I loved it, I loved them, and I loved Kathryn Janeway.
At least, I did in the early years when she wasn't so aloof and angst-ridden, so distant from her crew, when she let her 'Mama Janeway' side out - before the show degenerated into The Adventures of Barbie of Borg and her Intrepid Sidekick Psycho Janeway. I could never quite tell if the writers were deliberately writing Janeway as slowly sinking into psychosis through too much isolation and power, or if it was just bad writing and OOC characterisation. I suspect the latter.
By the end of the show I was so disengaged and alienated I barely watched the last season, and I've never been able to bring myself to re-watch it. Love and hate, people, love and hate... Too close for comfort.
