Oh wow. Really? I guess I don't have very discriminate taste because I started off with 30 shows this season! I'm down to 28 because Ironside and Welcome to the Family got cancelled.
Thirty? Good God! I don't even think I'm aware of that many new shows. But then, being in the UK, I guess I'm not exposed to all the marketing and ads, so I only try out the ones I hear about, which tend to be the ones that are more likely to appeal to a UK audience or the ones that fandom gets excited about.
Whoops, I'm actually down to 27 because I stopped following The Crazy Ones. I wanted to like it because I like the cast but I just couldn't get into it. Some won't start until mid-season too which makes it easier to follow but anyway here's my complete list....
New: Betrayal Chicago PD The Millers The Following Almost Human Believe Crisis Enlisted The Family Guide Friends With Better Lives Gang Related Intelligence The Night Shift Reckless Resurrection Us & Them Hostages Sleepy Hollow The Trophy Wife Agents of Shield The Blacklist
Returning: NCIS Elementary The Good Wife Criminal Minds Bones Castle
No longer following: Welcome to the Family - cancelled Ironside - cancelled The Crazy Ones
I tend to find with new shows that unless I follow them from the start, I often wait until midseason to find out whether they've been cancelled or not. Like I was going to watch Ironside but then I heard it was cancelled already so I didn't bother.
That's the one thing that annoys me about US shows, some just don't get a chance. At least over here you know you'll always get at least one full season, but it seems like so many shows over there get canned after barely one or two episodes if they don't perform.
I just watched the first episode of Dracula and, like you, quite enjoyed it!
That first scene was beautifully done and really drew me into the rest of the episode. Love the fact that there are so many supporting characters -- all of whom seem interesting. (And on that note, I thought Katie McGrath was great as the BFF of one of the main characters.) I'll be tuning in next week.
Yes, way to open a show - with the sarcophagus and the blood and the stakes! It really caught my attention from the get-go. And to follow it with such a contrast as that party scene - to go from murk and gloom and darkness and blood to brilliant lights and glorious dresses!
Sleepy Hollow won my heart right from the moment when the Headless Horseman left behind axes and went for semi-automatics - that shot of him cantering away with bandoliers and an assault rifle just cracked me up.
We watched Dracula last night and loved it! Way to come up with a completely new spin on the story, making the fossil fuel industry the bad guys. I APPROVE. And Van Helsing and him allies. And the pretty fight scene, and the scenery. Plus everything you said...
CAn I recommend By Any Means? I was doubtful because I don't approve of cops using violence or terrorizing suspects, and that's what it sounded like from the blurb, but in fact it's a small team who do sting operations to catch bad guys who've escaped justice.
I didn't get past the first five minutes of Ironside because the show litereally opened with him beating information out of someone. I was like, NOPE.
