So did anyone watch the new Dracula the other night?
I have to say, I really enjoyed it. More than I was expecting to. It really nailed that wonderful smoky Victorian London tone, all dark shadows hiding beneath brilliant gloss, fabulous costumes and beautiful women and that deliciously predatory undertone. Jonathan Rhys-Myers has never been an actor I've been especially drawn to, but he just oozed sex in this.
And again I was pleasantly surprised by the cast - all sorts of people I had no idea were in this, like Katie McGrath and Thomas Kretschmann. Even Anthony Howell from Foyle's War!
If the rest of the season is as enjoyable as this pilot I'll definitely be sticking with it. It's quite a relief to find a second new show from this TV season - so far only Sleepy Hollow has been a go-er. Hmm, both shows based on old horror novels. Something in the zeitgeist?
